I think part of it is because they associate Republicans with Christianity. Supreme irony in this. Christians are the one group that does and will do the most to support Israel, and protect the religious rights and freedoms of Jews. There is plenty of evidence to support this.

If you read Mr P's book, you will see that it goes way back with the Catholic church. Jews were targets of the early church. It was not until the foundation of the USA and the establishment clause of the constitution that the Christian community (Protestant and Catholics)started reconciliation. It was very ugly in the Middle ages. But you are correct, the Evangelical movement is the largest supporter of Israel. But most Jews are JINOs.
