WILMINGTON, Del. – Conservative activist Christine O'Donnell earned a stunning victory in Delaware's Republican Senate primary Tuesday, riding a wave of tea party anger and advertising dollars to oust U.S. Rep. Michael Castle.

O'Donnell's shocking win gave new energy to the tea party movement, which targeted Castle after victories by Republican tea party candidates in the Alaska and Nevada Senate primaries.

With 78 percent of precincts reporting, O'Donnell had 54 percent to 46 percent for Castle, a former two-term governor and the longest serving congressman in Delaware history.

I know it’s a good thing to separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’, but I’m extremely disappointed in some of the (who used to be my favorite) Republicans who have been trashing Christine O’Donnell! :-(

Karl Rove sucked tonight on Hannity. Proved once again that Rino’s r on the run!
What ever happened to the people have voted/spoken? Get behind the candidate
and help her win! If she sucks, next election the people will decide again. I am
pissed that repubs are willing to concede. What the hell is wrong with these people?

Come on Rove, she is the parties candidate, we are all on one team, right, right? We have to work, give and support the parties nominee, right Karl, right? You know the line by heart, you RINO’s have spewed so much since 1988. This time live by your own words that you so sanctimoniously preach to us conservatives every time one of your back stabbing RINO’s wins a nomination.

Even in defeat and her winning the nomination you still trash her and you expect conservatives to continue supporting your back stabbing goons.

My money says you can’t and won’t support her.

Reasons be damned, it is just one more way for the “establishment” to nullify the will of the people”.

Just examine the proliferation of “law” and it can be
for one reason only, to obfuscate, confuse, and turn
the law abiding into criminals, and we certainly can’t
have criminals running the country can we.

Well, not conservative criminals, that’s for sure.

Yeah, Rove just said that the GOP will likely gain 7-8 seats in the Senate instead of the 10 needed to control Congress because of the O’Donnell victory. Blah, blah, blah.

No he didn't. He said we went from likely picking up 8-9 seats to now likely picking up 7-8 seats. Rove knows she is not a candidate who can win statewide in Delaware and that is all he was pointing out.

And now Karl Rove is on the Hannity show telling why she can't win... you don't get more establishment that Rove.

This is precisely why we cancelled satellite TV at ou house. We used to listen to Fox News exclusively, but noticed the heavy rotation with Karl Rove, and numerous other RINO spokespersons (along with the usual liberal yohos). It was nauseating. We figured quitting the propaganda spewed at us was our own "message" back to Fox News. Who needs them? There are lots better ways to spend our dollars and our time.

The Tea Party has secured the nomination of a candidate with Palin-quality positions, but an Obama-quality resume.

Delaware is a hyperblue state, and there is no incumbent in this race.

Coons is a liberal who is wrong on everything, but he has a resume that includes serious work in the private sector and actual elected experience.

Having an R after your name does not guarantee you office in DE even in this environment, and being a staunch conservative has never guaranteed you office in DE in any environment.

As more details emerge about O'Donnell's thin resume and, giving her the full benefit of the doubt, easily misinterpreted financial history it will be very difficult for her.

I hope she wins and that she has staffers of top quality once in office. But she is not Scott Brown and Coons is not Martha Coakley.

Karl Rove on Hannity right now is practically reading the Democrat talking points

I was screaming at the tv like I did when I (accidentally) saw Keith Oberman, Chrissy Matthews, etc. I don't know if I will ever think the same of Rove after this! I hope he hears from LOTS of people!

If Castle had won, I would have supported him. But he didn’t. The voters of Delaware have made their choice. Now it is time to get behind the nominee and take the fight to the Democrat.

No Democrat is safe in this election cycle. We should concede nothing.

If this makes the difference at some point as to which party controls the Senate, then if she loses where Castle might have won, then the Democrats would control the Senate.

Maybe, but it also tells Republicans candidates across the country that they better do more than pay lip service to the tea party / conservatives. If you get elected as a Republican, you better actually govern as a Republican.

As long as you're playing "if", you might consider, "what IF Castle had been elected and then pulled a Jumpin' Jim Jeffords on day 1?" or "What IF Senator Castle gave the Democrats cover on Marxist legislation, allowing them to claim it's 'bipartisan'?"
