GOP victor Jeff Perry vows to topple Nancy Pelosi
Boston Herald ^ | 9/15/10 | Richard Weir and Edward Mason

Posted on 09/14/2010 11:28:51 PM PDT by JulieRNR21

The Bay State race that could capture national attention kicks off today with Republican state Rep. Jeffrey Perry facing Democrat Norfolk District Attorney William Keating in what promises to be a knock-down, drag-out contest for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. William Delahunt.

A fired-up Perry came out of his corner with fighting words last night.

“We’re taking back our government starting right now,” Perry told supporters at Plimouth Plantation, pledging to be a vote against “Obamacare,” to cut federal spending and to halt illegal immigration. The Sandwich representative, who bested former state Treasurer Joe Malone, Cohasset accountant Raymond Kasperowicz and Hanover lawyer Robert Hayden in the primary, vowed to help topple the Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill.

“I will be part of a wave sweeping across this country of 39 or more Republicans who’ll remove Nancy Pelosi from the speaker’s chair,” he declared.

Keating, who topped Barnstable state Sen. Robert O’Leary in a hard-fought Democratic bout, hit his own populist notes, promising to battle Washington pols beholden to “big oil” and fight attempts to raise the age for Social Security.

“To every man, woman and child in the 10th district who wants to fix Washington, this victory belongs to you,” Keating said.

“The stakes of this campaign are high,” Keating said.

The national GOP has targeted Massachusetts’ 10th district as one of several nationwide ripe for turnover. There are currently no Republican House members from New England.

I too was at the victroy party.

Jeff Perry is a true Reagan movement conservative.

Scott Brown took this district by 60%. Granted Jeff is much, much more conservative than he is, but his opponent, Bill Keating is also a weak candidate and subject to Quincy Democrat in fighting and a good spoiler former Democrat running as an independent spoiler. It will be tough but it’s doable.

For you Mass people, here’s a Patriot Ledger poll that needs to be Freeped.

http://www.patriotledger.com/highlight/x560100877/Keating-or-Perry-Whos-your-pick-for-the-10th-District

Only about 150 vote total at this point with perry at 57% so you can make a real difference.

Here’s the link to Jeff’s website.

I’ll post again when a direct link to the video of Jeff’s victory speech is up. (It’s on the Patriot Ledger website now).

Only way a Repub takes her seat is if 95% of North Beach,
Mission, Tenderloin dissappears or forgets to vote.

"he should go on your list"

I had a long day yesterday holding signs in the sun along with my peers who could spare/make the time. In any case, if you can write Perry for Congress a check for a few bucks the money will be put to good use.

Money is going to be an issue in this campaign. While Jeff has done very well in fund raising, there is never enough especially running against a DA who can get lots of money from attorneys.

The retiring Congresscritter, Bill Delauhunt is sitting on a huge war chest that may go to Keating (although there is some bad blood as Keating took Delahunt’s DA seat when Delahunt was elected to Congress and promptly fired all the attorneys that Delahunt had hired. And also Keating said Delahunt should have prosecuted Amy Bishop for the 1986 killing of her brother which Delahunt grossly mishandled.

Keating will run a very nasty, negative campaign and Jeff will need a lot of money to get his message out.

You are absolutely right that the Dems will throw in a huge amount of cash to elect Keating! My money’s on Jeff and we need to get Free Republic to back him like they did Scott Brown.

Jeff is the real deal...a true conservative who voted against RomneyCare! He’s a man of principle, intergity and humility who is exactly what the Founders envisioned as most qualified to represent The People.

Jeff Perry was referring to removing Pelosi from being Speaker!

We need to elect enough GOP Reps in the House to put the Dems in the minority!

You are right. I just got back from Perry's Sandwich campaign HQ. There were a bunch of us there writing checks. People are pumped.

I picked up the vote breakdown. Of 41 precincts, Jeff took 34. Four more were about even with Malone up slightly. Malone won big only in his home turf of Cohasset, Scituate, Marshfield.

Email about Jim McKenna sticker/write in to remove Coakley who famously said that it is not illegal to be illegal in Massachussets.

Jim McKenna as a write in I believe is the first in MA history to achieve this in a primary, thanks to everyone for the help, its on Martha Coakley vs. Jim McKenna for Mass AG

Will be fun for all of us to watch over next couple of days as Massachusetts media and the Coakley Machine finally discovers it, verifies it, then verifies it again...

Yep, and while they scream racism, we pull the lever.

I read/heard a few comments of some who were at Ground Zero. One guy from Austria or Austraila (forget) he said how they ‘elect’ scream racism if anyone comes against their gov’t and the citizens remain quiet - so it was good for him to see how we stand up in spite of what we hear or comes against us.

“This is a Massachusetts race. I think he meant that being elected and taking a current Democrat seat would help topple Pelosi as speaker.

The Herald sure could have written a better headline.”

Agree! Good luck to Perry and with him along with the Florida Conservatives like Allen West whom we are sending to Congress, Nancy will be giving up her “Speaker” position AND who knows, maybe her seat! Time will tell if the CA voters are tired of her craziness too!

Yes, he should that giant gavel that Nancy Pelosi walked around with, with that big stupid grin on her face and sell it on eBay, and donate the money to the U.S. Treasury.

Think of the good publicity he could get for a stunt like that — there’s just one problem: they’ll never do it. But never think of anything like it will never invent their own gimmick film ever attacked the Democrats like the Democrats attack them — they simply won’t fight back. You will have SEIU dancing in the street chanting their chants and wearing their purple T-shirts, but the Republicans will never get angry and they won’t fight back, and they won’t call them out for what they truly are — cheats and thieves —and that is how we got in this mess.
