No, we didn’t use Germans for the original, we used American Scientists. We used Captured German scientists for our rocket and missle programs after the war but during the war relied on our own people. Even then there was at least one traitor selling our nuke secrets.

You know better.....Nationality has nothing to do with it. Lots of homegrown terrorists and spies and traitors....far more than foreign born.
Have you seen the math and science test score rankings for U.S. students lately? We're near the bottom of the list. Yet I'd bet we spend more $$ per student than any other country.
On the ABomb project, not that many Germans. Mostly Americans, Brits, several key Hungarians, and a key Italian. Most of them were exiles from Hitler’s Europe, of course.
Now there was one Hitler-induced German exile who was at the heart of the program: Klaus Fuchs. The security team missed the fact that he fled Hitler because he was a Commie.
