NY Times: Democrats Grope for Health Care’s Political Payoff
New York Times ^ | September 22, 2010 | By MICHAEL D. SHEAR

Six months after President Obama signed health care legislation into law, the political benefits of the overhaul to the Democratic Party are hard to find.

There are no Democrats running campaign ads touting their vote in support of the health care legislation. And several Democratic candidates are bragging about their opposition to the law as they fight to remain in office.

But White House officials are betting that the politics of health care will start to turn around when people start to reap the benefits of the new provisions.

At the backyard event, Mr. Obama will discuss the health care legislation with a man who suffers from a chronic condition and was facing huge bills when he ran up against the lifetime caps on coverage put in place by his insurance company.

But even if Mr. Obama receives plenty of coverage for Wednesday’s event, there is little time left for his message to stick with voters. Election day is less than six weeks away and officials said there is no plan for a major public relations campaign on health care.

Democrats Grope for Health Care’s Political Payoff

They'd be better served to brace for it's political fallout come November.

That’s what they get for not listening or paying attention to the majority of the American people.

A pox on the dems this November.

Maxine's Solution to Senior Health Care

Under the "Obama Care" Program

So you're a senior citizen and the government says no health care for you, what do you do? Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older a gun and 4 bullets.

You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of Course, this means you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head, and all the health care you need! New teeth, no problem. Need glasses, great. New hip, knees, kidney, lungs, heart? All covered. (And your kids can come and visit you as often as they do now).

And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care.

Plus, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income taxes anymore.

Wow, a headline containing the words Democrats, Grope and Payoff and Bill Clinton isn't involved!

Boy is he gonna be surprised when the "End of Life" counselor shows up with Obama.

So obama will campaign against democrats campaigning on not supporting obamacare. That’s real hope and change.

Gawd I wish they were literally "betting"; I'd be there taking all bets at 50:1 odds, just give me a "start to turn around" date and a definition of "reap the benefits".

They were warned time and again beginning last spring, through the summer and fall until winter that we were paying attention and they’d be held accountable for their actions.

In 41 days it’ll be time to reap what they have sown.

I stood out there on the front lawn of the Capitol and yelled as loud as I could, with about a million of my friends, who were yelling as loud as they could, too. But they couldn’t hear us because they were trying to hear racial ephitets that were never spoken.

Mess with the bull, get the horns...

Part of me is truly stunned that they delayed implementation of so much of it until 2014. You’d have thought they’d begin the Giveaway Bonanza immediately in order to buy votes for this cycle. Sure ain’t Huey Long’s Democrat Party any longer.
