House Republicans just released a draft of their legislative agenda for the next Congress, a 21-page "Pledge to America" that they will formally unveil Thursday morning at a Virginia hardware store.

"The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated," the introduction says.

It continues: "With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America."

They want to avoid the issues at all cost. The “Pledge to America” brings the issues to the for front.

Yep...and the candidates will run with this now.

Its a shame they did not clarify their pledge applies to Federal Government vs States or local.

I was hoping to see equally bold initiatives we’ve seen from the left as they’ve shoved through their agenda. I wanted to see support for passage of the FairTax and abolishment of the American KGB better known as the IRS, abolishment of the Departments of Education and Energy as both have proven over thirty years to be totally ineffectual and a waste of resources and to have actually presided over a DECLINE in the quality of education and energy during their tenure. I was also hoping to see an initiative to ban union involvement in govenrnment as this is an inherent and abhorent conflict of interest.

Republicans need BOLD initiatives to win back We The People. We in the Tea Party are the life support system of the GOP at this point and we are in it to win it. This is not a game to us. We are serious about restoring our country.

They aren’t setting my hear on fire with this. “We plan to change the health care bill to end mandates on small businesses.” How about killing it before it kills the elderly and handicapped?

Cutting spending is not going to help; we need to reshape the Federal government to fit it’s constitutional purpose.

Promising they will not pass any more Federal mandates w/o a review on the effet on jobs and economy is good but we need to turn back about 10,000 pages of job and liberity mandates the socialist slammed through over the past two years. At the very least defund them.

It’s wordy, full of loopholes and sounds like the biddies from Maine wrote it.

This has good things but shows cowardice and fear. It should support a constitutional amendment to stop this illegal baby is now a citizen BS and the require a balanced budget. It should stand apposed to nation building and to increase nuclear weapons stockpile so if Iran or NKP or CHINA!! nuke us we burn them to cinders. Where are the leaders? The good news is tea party is now THE PARTY!!!

Color me skeptical.

I WAS hopeful the GOP had learned their lesson after the disaster of the Bush years - until they let Murkowski keep her committe leadership position after pledging to Joe Miller they wouldn't.

"Go along to get along" is ingrained in their DNA. We need new blood!

All I can say is...you gotta be kidding me. These are the great solutions to a runaway federal government?

Wow.

Restore trust, to Americans, also means living honorable lives. Every Republican better be living a clean, wholesome life or they are going to be reamed- first by the Dems, then by the voters. The American public is sick of hypocrites and toe-tappers!

"GOP" has nothing to offer but B.S. posturing.

What makes this any different from the "contract with America?"

Same old song & dance. They just want to get back in power then it's back to BAU.

A Republic is a system - of governance characterized by the rule of law.
When the law fails, the Republic fails; and when the Republic fails, government OF, BY, and FOR the People - FAILS.

Does the pledge promise to legalize freedom?

I’m sick of pedophiles xraying my body parts. I don’t walk like a muslim, I don’t talk like a muslim, I don’t act like a muslim, I don’t look like a muslim. With my southern drawl, no way could I fool anyone. Nor could my mother, nor father, nor grandfather, nor my grandmother, nor great grandfather, nor great grandmother, nor great great grand father nor great great grandmother. Heck, we all look like red blooded Americans here for Thanksgiving.

I could go on to great great great. But, by now, I hope the point is made. We deserve freedom. Our ancestors fought and died for it. It’s ours to cherish. They gave this right to us. We cannot, and we shall not, allow their spilled blood be in vein.

Whatever happened to Ameriquest? I haven’t seen an ad in the last couple of years. Their tv ads formally dominated the commercials, saturating most all networks and cable channels.

Require Tough Enforcement of Sanctions Against Iran: The Iranian regime is a state-sponsor of terrorism, has actively worked to harm our deployed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and violates the rights and will of its own people. It has declared its determination to acquire a nuclear capability, which threatens its neighbors and the security of the United States. We will work to ensure the government aggressively and effectively implements the sanctions tools Congress has provided.
