Rove reacted by taking to the television to express the party establishments outrage at this willful act of defiance. Rove questioned ODonnells electability in the November election and went on to recycle Castles attack ads about ODonnell, including allegations that it had taken her two decades to pay back her student loans.
The right-wing reaction was immediate. Rush Limbaugh took the lead, and the conservative blogosphere piled on. All were seemingly shocked to discover that Rove was not a tribune of the people, but just another power-mad political hack from inside the Beltway.
This was obvious long ago to anyone who was paying attention. From the beginning, the supposed Svengali behind George W. Bush has always treated Republican voters as rubes who can be fooled into supporting party establishment policies that have little or no grass-roots support.
The most obvious such policy is on immigration. In 2004, Bush proposed what amounted to an open-borders policy, one in which virtually every worker on Earth could compete for American jobs. This was good for the business interests who buy influence inside the Beltway, but few rank-and-file Republicans supported it.

What? You mean O'Donnell wasn't setup with a trust fund so she could go to Harvard or Yale? She didn't go to a prep school or a finishing school? She was never launched into proper society as a debutante?
We can't have this "commoner" in public office, can we?
You mean she wasn’t a HW Bush obsequious toady the day after collage, when Atwater and little Karl, first showed up at the Washington trough, and never left?
Looking back, when rove was given the title of “The Architect” and the ‘brain behind Bush’ it showed he had a massive ego by not denying it.
He undermined the presidents intelligence and the media was more than willing to oblige him.
Theres no need for a Beltway consultant to work the voters into a fake fervor when they are perfectly capable of working themselves into a real fervor.
And . . .
As for Rove, I suspect that after November he will be relegated to the role of that rabble-rousing politician in the French revolution who is supposed to have uttered the following immortal words:
"There go the people. I must follow them, for I am their leader."
Rove is a pretty sharp guy, but he is on the wrong side of this.
Parties need to stay out of Primary’s
They need to support the pick’s of the people.
Now I feel bad , because I have every inclination to believe that Republicans will pick Romney for President, and I will not support him.
Rove has never been a conservative, (he’s an establishment Republican first) and has never been on the side of conservativism. The same cane be said for guys like Newt, Huckabee, Romney and a host of others. Like Jim DeMint said, I’d rather have 40 principled conservatives (and not in control) than 51 RINOs.
This was soooo lame. Regardless, Rove should have been asked...on the spot...how long it took for him to pay back his student loans.
“two decades to pay off student loans”???? Where Sallie Mae sets up a payment schedule for thirty years, much like a mortgage, for many students, I’d say O’Donnell has committed a fine feat in getting them paid off in two decades!! It must be that she and her parents, much like Sarah Palin’s couldn’t afford to pay tuition outright that she’s under attack from the ruling class!!!
Yeah, the 2 decades thing irked me too. I’m only on year 8 of a 30 year student loan payback period, and I’ll be paying them off next month. 20 years is admirable depending on the debt load.
We will continue to hear from Rove because he’s saying things the MSM like to hear about conservatives.
The flip side of this is; fewer people consume news from the MSM...
Yup. FNC still has him on.
He openly attacked her and condemned her.
He invited all of this on himself.
I see TokyoRove relegated to appearing in reverse mortgage or medical supply commercials. He has become insignificant and irrelevant, as it pertains to politics.

Rove's and others' true colors showing through.
If they're not able to adjust to the new political environment the Tea Party has created, then they'll just be voted out of exsistence or pushed into insignificance.
The 'Old Guard' and the 'Good Old Boys Club' can't forget this one major point: they still depend on the voter. We have the key to their power and influence.
And we're finally wide awake to what's going on.
Karl Rove bet on the wrong horse, so-to-speak, because his job isn't advancing the cause of freedom. He's a country-club elitist who's out of touch with rock-ribbed American voters.
