>> He said the poor would always be with us. If people accepted this personal responsibility it would not be necessary for religious or government solutions to exist.<<

Oh come on. Saying that the poor would always be with us was in no way insinuating that the government should step in. He did however say that the Church was a way to help the poor by admonishing Christians to give to the Church.

By “people” not accepting the personal responsibility in no way transfers the responsibility to the government. It is however, a condemnation to the Church and the individual.

In this country people transfer responsibility by voting. Isn't that what elections are all about?

Not as it concerns Biblical personal responsibility unless they are abdicating that responsibility. Dangerous at best.

Amen!

My ol’ mama used to say:

God helps those who help themselves. But, God help those He catches helping themselves.

Is it any wonder why Jesus’s chosen profession was a carpenter, a builder and creator.

Jesus cared about the poor and gave to them unselfishly not because He was forced to by the government but out of a higher futy, a higher calling.

Jesus gave willingly and voluntarily. He showed us all the true way and the path to salvation.

“don’t refer to the snake devil satan loser as something that means light.”

one of his followers deliberately mistranslated in his favor centuries ago giving him a name that means light”

That verse should be read differently, however, this verse does refer to the Devil taking the appearance of an angel of light:

2 Corinthians 11:14
“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”

I think it’s important to remind people that appearances can be deceiving, and evil often takes a pleasing form.
