Ann Coulter At Homocon: 'Marriage Is Not A Civil Right. You're Not Black.'
tpmdc ^ | September 26, 2010 | Megan Carpentier

Ann Coulter doesn't mince words. And even when speaking to a gay conservative organization, GOProud, at their inaugural Homocon party on Saturday night, she apparently wasn't willing to start.

After a series of jokes about conservative that sounded -- and were received -- more like a stand-up act then a political speech, Coulter told the assembled (and predominantly wealthy) conservative gay crowd why they should oppose same sex marriage, adding, "I should warn you: I've never failed to talk gays out of gay marriage."

And then she did.

First, she ran down the stereotypical stand-up comedian's list of reasons, including that lacking the legal right to marriage allows the less-committed partner to weasel out of it. But in a more serious note, she parroted the losing arguments of the lawyers supporting California's Prop 8 and told the crowd that the reason she opposes (and they should oppose) same sex marriage is that it is strictly for procreation.

In one of a series of racially insensitive remarks that pervaded her speech, Coulter added, "Marriage is not a civil right. You're not black." It was part of a larger argument on which she later elaborated, telling the crowd that the 14th Amendment only applies to African-Americans and that it does not, in fact, apply to women, LGBT people or other minorities.

All the cheerleaders for Coulter are now coming out of the closet, I see....

Sorry, Ann does not get a pass for this. Taking a speaking engagement for Homocon is going to get you kicked off a values-related speaking engagement....Farah was correct, now matter how Coulter attacked the gays in attendance

Coulter still supported Mitt Romney (socialized medicine before Obama) early in the 2008 campaign over conservative candidates....and has repeatedly attacked Birthers...sounding like her friends on MSNBC and Bill Maher. She still has not produced Obama’s long form birth certificate to prove why Birthers are “nuts”...

Coulter is still a liberal....and real conservatives see right thru her schtick

St. Peter went into the lions den. So did Coulter. Until she starts actually doing things contrary to what I believe, like Romney, I am proud to call myself a Coulter cheerleader.

She’s excellent, and unlike Romney, won’t sponsor laws which kill babies.

Ann Coulter has been Ann Coulter for a very long time. In saying that, I mean she’s been very consistant.

I have no idea why anyone would be as apoplectic as I’ve seen them to be over her appearance at Homocon.

She did what she loves to do...prove everybody else wrong. ;o)

It was ridiculous to think she was going to “sell-out.”

Yep.
Ann tried to put that idiocy to rest when she compared this speaking engagement with her past numerous speaking engagements at similarly hostile venues - - universities and colleges. It's easy to speak to friendly conservative audiences and feed them up the red meat with humor and gusto, but speaking bluntly to packed houses full of potentially violent liberals, skeptics, and goofballs takes guts. Everybody should have known this was coming.

The term you're trying to avoid is sexual deviants.
If you're the self-proclaimed rule maker are only homosexuals "sexual deviants"? Cuz I'm not homosexual but...

And woe to divide-and-conquer shills who think bible-thumping generalities

That's not a "Bible thumping" generality. It's very specific. And the owner of this site states that FR is pro-God.

. that you should take the giant paid-for Leftist trained shill mountain-range of fractured galcier ice out of thine single smashed stupid eyeball, before thouest cursest and damnest the leastest-mostest conservative, even one the size of a hydrogen atom a thousand parsecs past Alpha Centari.

You probably think that's clever but it doesn't apply as it is about hypocrites. Homosexuals are unrepentant sinners that use the force of government to force approval of their deviancy. Aiding someone in their sin makes you guilty also.

Are you saying that homosexuality is normal and natural and not deviant sex?

I'd like to her whether she supports some sort of recognition like civil unions, though. Bets are that she does.

To be fair, the National Organization for Marriage also tacitly supports this, which angers me to no end.

Farah is the full blown shyster.

Why? Support your accusation, or is this just name calling?

At the time, I said that Ann Coulter was wrong to give credence to the GOProud group. I said that Farah was wrong to publish personal emails to him from Coulter.

I continue to believe that.

I wanted her to say: It is "You are not conservatives." She didn't say that it was impossible for a gay to be a conservative (which is the truth.)

In fact the head of GOProud picked up on that and said:

GOProud's executive director, Jimmy LaSalvia, told TPM after the speech, "I don't agree with Ann Coulter about gay marriage, but there was a real conversation here. That's what we're trying to start." He added, "We want people to see that it isn't 'us versus them.'" As an organization, he explained, GOProud focuses strictly on federal issues which means that, institutionally, they don't take a position on state policy issues like same sex marriage. Unlike the Log Cabin Republicans who exist, according to LaSalvia, to push from many of the same agenda items as the "gay left," GOProud seeks to redefine what are "gay" issues and push for issues of the largest importance to the LGBT community.

So, the part I disagreed with is what Ann Coulter accomplished. She allowed them to state that a "conversation had begun."

That means it looks like "all the family, sitting around the kitchen table, discussing family stuff."

Homosexuality can never be part of the conservative family.

Ann’s comment, “Marriage is not a civil right. You’re not black” was not only NOT insensitive, it was very sensitive in the favor of black folks, and other racial minorities, who should not have to tolerate being compared the pervert minorities on account of their skin color.””

You are exactly right. Blacks universally resent, and rightly so, being compared to deviants whether they be homos, pedophiles, or beastophiles. This is a disgustingly perverted method that homosexuals have used to advance the cause of rimming, felching, and their purported right to take possession of other peoples’ children.

I read on FR that Ann was going there to RINO up and sell out. Whut happened?

What gave you the impression that amongst the Right there are not a fair number of imbeciles? The imbecile will react first; think second, if at all.

I’m not a fan of Coulter, but the woman spoke the truth at this convention. I don’t agree with everything she says, but I agree with what she reportedly said at this convention.

Do your views apply to conservatives speaking to liberal groups too?
