Lunacy dims Edison's invention

The General Electric factory in Winchester, Va., the last major U.S. plant making standard incandescent light bulbs, is scheduled to close at the end of the month. When it does, the remaining 200 workers will lose their jobs, marking a rather ignominious end for a company that produced a product that Thomas Alva Edison gave to us and the rest of the world back in the late 1870s.
This is a direct result of Al Gores global-warming scare tactic, which is largely responsible for the 2007 energy bill enacted by the Democratic-dominated Congress that mandates the total banning of all incandescent bulbs by 2014, further exacerbated by the fact that all of the CFL bulbs that we are being forced to use will continue to be manufactured in China.
For the past six months, the mainstream media has been ignoring a series of new media articles exposing a fraudulent scheme by a group of leftist meteorologists to manipulate scientific data in order to give credence to Gores wrongful deductions, the final goal of which was to facilitate the creation of unnecessary regulations that would stifle free enterprise in the USA.
If those revelations and the fact that we just had one of the coldest winters ever recorded wasnt enough to convince you that theres no such thing as man-made global warming, then how about resorting to some good old common sense:
The people of earth are the equivalent of a cup-full of fleas on an elephant, because it is a mathematical fact that the entire population of this planet could fit into the state of Alaska and have room left over for everyone to park their cars. Imagine that! All of those nasty carbon dioxide-producing creatures occupying our largest state, while the rest of the world lies fallow.
If youve looked at a map of the United States recently, then youve noticed all those large dots representing large industrial cities, presumably packed solidly with carbon-producing entities people, autos, factories. Hopefully, youve also noticed the comparatively vast spaces around and between those dots.
You know, rural areas farms, pastures, orchards, forests. Furthermore, one look at a world map reveals that four-fifths of the planet is uninhabitable oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, jungles, arid deserts (like the Sahara and Death Valley), tall mountain ranges and the polar ice caps.
Do you still believe that all those relatively insignificant dots can affect a planet that is about 80 percent uninhabited?
And unless you were absent the day that the solar system was discussed in elementary school, then you might recall that the sun represents 99.85 percent of the solar systems mass. Besides holding the solar system together, our all-powerful star provides something we call daylight and manages to heat our planet enough to sustain carbon life forms.
If youre thinking that these few amenities is the extent of the suns influence on the green pea that we live on, consider that we are bombarded 24/7/365 with solar radiation, which is an electromagnetic energy transfer consisting of visible light rays, heat rays, ultraviolet and X-rays; and solar winds, streams of charged particles consisting of ions and electrons, a result of the suns constant fusion process. The sun also rotates on its axis and has fluctuating periods of high and low activity sun flares that can attain heights of from 50,000 to 1 million miles.
In summation, its that monstrous ball of fire that determines the comfort level of our atmosphere rather than the misguided notion that the fate of the planet lies in the hands of a relative cupful of fleas.
And heres a final thought for those of you who are patting yourself on the back, because youve replaced all your incandescent light bulbs with toxic mercury-filled CFL bulbs and bought yourself one of Detroits overgrown golf carts. If the lifestyles of the people of earth are powerful enough to cause a life-threatening greenhouse effect, then how is it that we arent capable of preventing a hurricane, tornado or blizzard or any of Mother Natures other atmospheric tantrums?
Maybe for the next hurricane, we should all line up along the East Coast, take a collective deep breath and blow the thing back out to sea.
Or at least all stop and then full reverse.
It’s not lunacy. It is corruption, pure and simple. Phillips company bribed enough Congressional members to mandate buying the light bulb that they have a patent on.
Absolutely ridiculous for the government to mandate the curly bulbs....especially when we know what’s coming...environmental cleanup w/ fines....Just like asbestos...and lead paint
It’s nearly unbelievable that Al Gore and the Government are going to force me to stock up on incandescent light bulbs before they are banned.
Just ridiculous.
Hint to the “slow to catch on”:
Time to stock up. (Rumor has it three 3-way incandescent production will stop soon.)
I wonder how many of these workers vote democrat!
Bush´s fault.
He signed it into law.
The boat from China will turn around after dropping off shipment of bulbs.
Another thing he stOle from Tesla...
You sure about that?

Reading the instructions on the precautions needed to be followed when cleaning up after the breakage of a light bulb made in China, one almost needs to wear a hazmat suit, not to mention what toxic mercury waste they will add to our landfills.
Wonder what the dollar value of our freedoms will be when those get sold off?
Yes, Phillips did the bribing of Congress after getting license from Nilssen. This information was contained in a FR post around the time that Congress passed the ‘Green Light Bulb’ legislation.
From you link:
” ... Nilssen ... had entered an agreement to license the technology to Philips Electronics ... and had actually licensed some of the applications to Philips. ... “
I did find another article that says that Philips enjoys a higher profit margin on CFLs than on incandescents, and that was their motivation to lobby to ban incandescents in the EU.
Give the left a few years and they will ban all types of lighting except for candles..
I think the bottom line for all of this ‘Green’ legislation, is to establish ways to take money form the masses and deliver it into the hands of the politically connected elites.
Quite a trick since Edison held the patent on the threaded base and the method of evacuating the air from the bulb. How did that happen? In fact, Tesla had to design around Edison's patents.
I don't mean to take anything away from Tesla as he single handedly invented the modern power distribution system. Both men were genius caliber inventors, and both men had serious flaws which blinded them to their own mistakes.
Regards,
GtG
Oh?
Rumor has it that Tom bought the patent from a couple of Canadian fellows...
