Vulnerable Dem Rep. Embraces Bush In Latest Ad
ABC News ^ | September 27, 2010 | Amy Walter

We’ve seen plenty of Democrats in tight races trying to distance themselves from President Obama. But one Democrat, North Dakota's Rep. Earl Pomeroy, is taking this a step farther by actually embracing President George W. Bush.

Pomeroy is locked in what’s shaping up to be the toughest contest of his 17-year House career. He faces GOP state Rep. Rick Berg.

In one his first ads this cycle, Pomeroy highlighted his vote against cap-and-trade.

"No. I told the president and Congressional leaders no, on cap-and-trade legislation which would raise our electric rates and cost us energy jobs,” says Pomeroy in the ad, “It comes down to North Dakota common sense. It's not about party, it's not about politics. It's about doing what's right for North Dakota. I'm Earl Pomeroy, and I approve this message."

In his latest ad, Pomeroy goes a step further, highlighting his support for the Bush prescription drug plan which he says Berg would "roll back."

The ad opens with a bill signing featuring President Bush while a woman’s voice says, "When George Bush proposed a Medicare prescription drug plan, Earl Pomeroy voted yes, putting seniors before party.. Rick Berg would roll back prescription drug coverage."

So did he vote for Pelosi for Speaker?
I can understand the 'theoretical' concept of an independent Congressman. But if he voted for that marxist witch as Speaker, my presumption is that his few votes 'off the Democrat Reservation' were 'allowed' so he could masquerade as someone who put people first before party. If he voted against the witch as Speaker - then I'll cut him some slack

Representative Pomeroy on the issues:

http://www.ontheissues.org/House/Earl_Pomeroy.htm

Some admittedly sensible votes, but some big, big no-no’s

-YES on Porkulus and the GM bailout, etc.

-NO on DC school vouchers, voter ID

-F rating from the NRA

-82% positive rating from the NEA.

I think North Dakota can do better than this.

What he didn’t say is Pelosi let a few dims vote against it because she already had enough votes to push the crap through.A feeble attempt to save their sorry asses.

I have never seen anything like this election.

We have a moonbat congressman running for Senate (Paul Hodes), who voted for everything (Stimulus, Obamacare, bailouts, Cap & Trade), and in his latest ad he calls himself a “fiscal conservative.”

Obama has destroyed the Dem brand.

Exactly. Its a game they all play. I'm not buying it unless they have some other 'credentials' (e.g., 'I key'ed Madame Pelosi' Limo - and here's a picture of me doing it'; 'Here's a picture of me doing a 'Joe Wilson', at Obama's last meeting'; etc) - unfortunately, most of the critters in Washington D.C. are frauds and sell-outs, and will do whatever it takes to get re-elected.

I was in North Dakota last month. I was surprised to see Fox News on the airport lounge TV monitors in Fargo. It’s the first time I’ve seen anything other than CNN playing at an airport.

Looks like this could be the best GOP year in ND for a long time, winning a Senate seat for the first time since 1980 and taking the House seat as well. It’s about time!

So he’s a lib saying he voted for the biggest entitlement program of what, the last 25 years? Bush was (properly) excoriated for the bill.

Although it’s interesting that he’s including Bush’s name, the bottom line is it’s still the old “Republicans want to make grandma eat cat food” meme.
