Did he do something inparticular to fall off the popular band wagon? Or is it simply the “D” that’s killing him?

THE LATTER!!!

West Virginians HATE Obama. Obama’s disapproval rating in West Virginia is one of the highest in the Nation. Fully 72% of West Virginians disapprove of Obama.

What could we do to get Obama to go to WV and campaign for Manchin?

This is specifically why Raese could take a unique angle to his campaign, e.g., "Gov. Manchin does outstanding work in Charleston. I urge voters to keep him there and bring me aboard in the Senate and together we will fight for West Virginia!"

EXCELLENT!!!

Makes you wonder if there are any parts of the Byrd machine that Dems are hoping to use to steal the election.

EXCELLENT!!!

Thanks! There would be no way for Manchin to counter that without looking like a jerk.

“West Virginians HATE Obama. Obama’s disapproval rating in West Virginia is one of the highest in the Nation. Fully 72% of West Virginians disapprove of Obama.”

What’s the demographic makeup of West Virginia?

Does this tell you anything?

What do you mean by demographic makeup? Racial? 95% White 3.5% Black. However, this is less white than other ultra-liberal New England States like Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, where 97%-98% of the population is White, and Obama is still relatively popular.

So it has to be something other than race. It's far more likely because West Virginians are blue collar, social conservatives who are being both economically and social devastated by The One's idiotic policies.

This is really cool.

Manchin had the choice to defer the special election to 2012 and appoint a Democrat. His personal ambition drove him to call the special election early so that he can run for the seat.

If the Republicans take this seat, Manchin's decision will be second-guessed for a long time. On the other hand, if Manchin chose to defer the election, we would be hearing charges of the Democrats denying the people a choice.

Then maybe you need to send that suggestion to the Raese Campaign; for real.

Thanks! Just did! Here it is:

John,

I have a recommendation for what I think may be an effective, if unusual, campaign pitch... As you know Gov. Manchin is still popular, but WVA voters, according to this morning’s RCP analysis, want him as GOVERNOR, not Senator. They want someone (YOU!!) in the Senate to shackle 0bama.

This is specifically why you might consider trying this unique angle to your campaign...

“Gov. Manchin does outstanding work in Charleston. I urge voters to keep him there and bring me aboard in the Senate and together we will fight for the interests of our great state of West Virginia!”

Think about it... how is he going to counter THAT?

Godspeed and good luck from your neighbor in “East Virginia.”

If many of us contribute even a few dollars to Raese that would add up.

When did WV last have a GOP senator?

Looks like it was during the Eisenhower administration.

Send money to McKinley and Maynard. We can pick up two House seats this year, as well! Both of these guys are on Sarah’s “20” list!

McKINLEY CALLS ON OLIVERIO TO EXPLAIN STAND ON MOSQUE
Sunday August 15, 2010

Key Oliverio Funder in Pelosi Inner Circle Stands With
Obama on Ground Zero Project

CAMERON – GOP congressional nominee David McKinley today challenged his opponent in the November 2 general election to explain his position on a proposed ground zero mosque.

McKinley called on State Senator Mike Oliverio to affirm or reject the comments of Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen that he stands behind President Obama’s support for the project at the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York City that killed 3,000.

Meet Spike

Why Spike, Why Now?

“I am running for Congress to save coal jobs and jobs that depend on coal. West Virginians deserve a congressman who will fight to end this war on coal instead of standing by idly as thousands of local jobs are threatened.

I will fight for coal - the lifeblood of southern West Virginia’s economy. Coal provides half of this nation’s electricity and tens of thousands of good paying jobs in this district. If elected, I will stand up for West Virginia coal miners, and the thousands of workers who depend on the industry to feed their families. My main job will be to protect those jobs, and fight anyone who tries to get rid of them.”

A lifelong West Virginia resident, Elliott “Spike” Maynard was born in Williamson. He earned his B.S. from Florida Southern College in 1967 and his Law Degree from West Virginia University in 1974.

Spike is also a veteran. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961, and was attached to a reconnaissance group during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Thereafter, he was assigned to the 306th Bomb Wing in the Strategic Air Command, and was honorably discharged in 1966.

20 House Democrats from districts we carried in 2008 voted for the health care bill

It’s been six months since President Obama signed his health care bill into law. Despite overwhelming public dislike of Obamacare, we were told that Washington knows best and there was nothing to worry about. Nancy Pelosi said Congress had to pass the bill so that Americans could “find out what is in it.” We found out that it’s even worse than we feared.

Join me in standing against those who stood with Obama and Pelosi in voting for this disastrous bill. The Democrats from 20 districts we carried in 2008 voted for Obamacare. Now we can vote against them.
