Attorney Burt Odelson, a noted elction-law expert, is predicting Rahm Emanuel will be ineligible for mayor because he is not a legal resident of Chicago.
Odelson told Roe and Roeper on WLS Radio that when Emanuel leased out his Chicago home he could no longer claim he is a resident.
“He rented his house out in Sept 09 and has not been back since and has no residency in Chicago,” Odelson said.
Odelson says he has been involved in several residency cases in Illinois that “the law is clear.”

Obviously, this Election-law Expert is unaware that Rahm is a Democrat. Election laws are for the other guy only.
I guess Odelson will end up being called a, “Renther”, with apologies to “Birthers”.
Exactly how is ineligibility to hold office a barrier to Democrats?

I think Mayor Daley, who has mob and party connections all across the country as well as controlling Chicago, was ready to step down. I think he wanted Obama to bring in the Olympics as a kind of parting present for his friends, and was furious when Obama blew it.
If, as I think, Daley has chosen Rahm to replace him, then I doubt if these little details will stand in his way. They’ll find a crooked Chicago judge. That’s not too hard, since they’re all crooked.

Sure they will. Since when has the law actually ever meant anything to a liberal when it interferes with what they want to do?? I mean, this "is" Chicago, after all.
The lawyer making this pronouncement may be very well versed in the laws regarding this issue, but as we have been made painfully aware since the messiah’s immaculation, the laws do not apply to him or his friends.
All they need to do is find a judge to rule that the qualifications clause of the existing laws are “discriminatory” and therefore unconstitutional.
