You HAVE to have a business model that makes sense. We all get upset when we hear about some federal bureaucrat who retires at age 45 with a six figure pension fund for the rest of their life, with generous cost of living allowances built in. That’s an economic model that does not work, and currently it’s causing us a lot of pain – we all see it, and we all complain about it. Well, putting out fires for people who refused to contribute to the system is another economic model that just doesn’t make sense.

If the Tea Party means anything, it means that the free rides are over: for everyone.

This isn’t about economics. It’s about ethics.

It’s the same ethics that resulted in firefighters from all over the nation traveling to NYC post 911 to help clean up the mess. It’s the same ethics that sends fire departments across county lines to help each other out on a daily basis all over this country.

The Fire Chief got belted in the nose by the homeowner for good reason.

If it was about money there is no reason the fire dept. could not have extinguished the blaze (as they were already at the fire) and charged the homeowner a premium for doing so.
