A city council bill aimed at giving a minimum one-week's paid sick leave to any worker could cause local restaurants to cut back staff or to close.
The proposed law would force companies in the five boroughs to give up to nine days of sick leave annually to each employee -- and five days at firms with fewer than 20 workers, including those paid by tips.
"For a restaurant, you're looking at spending an extra $12,000 to $15,000 [annually], or about a month's rent," said Eugene Wilson, general manager at a popular Irish pub in Rockefeller Center, Channel Four.
