I finally found the story that ran in the local newspaper this month about Secretariat's grandson (grand colt?).Here goes:

Secretariat's grandson finds a new home in Wisconsin

Kristyna Wentz-Graff
George Mallet brushes his horse Brahma Fear, grandson of the legendary racer Secretariat. Mallet followed the horse’s career for several years and purchased the 5-year-old after he came off the track in August 2009

This is a cute story. My daughter in law owned a retired race horse at one time. My son convinced her to stop jumping Easter when she was pregnant with my granchild.

BTW, I haven't seen the movie yet. I was appalled at the ticket price. What do they think? We are NYC, or something? I'm waiting for it to come to our local movie where it will be $3.50 per ticket, or $2.00 on Tuesdays!

When I brush my beautiful horse or clean his hoofs, I often tell him stories about his grandfather. His big ears flip around toward me when I describe how Secretariat set a record for a mile and a half in the 1973 Belmont Stakes that still stands today.

That is a wonderful article.

The Rivoli

This is ours. It's owned by a community group that raised money and refurbished it. It's all run by volunteers. I think there is only one paid employee.

Yes/ had to drive north on business the other day and I kept my eyes on the fields to see if I could spot Brahma Fear running across the fields of Belgium. LOL No such luck, but I was looking.

I don’t like most Disney movies but this one was worth the time and money last weekend. It’s a good clean movie, well done and a progressive storyline. I can’t recall any part of it that dragged.

You’re lucky to have The Rivoli. Most of the historic theaters were torn down in the name of progress. I have fond memories of several that are long gone.

The Roxy Theater that we go to is owned by one man. When he retires, I wonder what will happen to the theater. It’s fun going there because the owner has kept the original decor.

We try to go there when we can to help keep the place going. I’m planning to see “Secretariat” there.

I heard Rush talking about this movie. Wasn’t interested in it before — am now!
