Scores arrested in Belgrade after anti-gay riot
BBC ^ | October 10, 2010

Anti-gay protesters have fought running battles with police in an effort to disrupt a Gay Pride march in Belgrade - the first in the city since 2001.

Rioters threw petrol bombs and stones at armed police, who responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.

The office of the ruling Democratic Party was briefly set on fire, and at least one shot was fired.

Calm was eventually restored but more than 100 people, mostly police, were injured, with another 100 arrested.

Sunday's march was the first Gay Pride parade in Serbia since a 2001 event was broken up in violent clashes provoked by far-right extremists.'Hooligan gangs'

Before the march, the head of the EU mission in Serbia, Vincent Degert, addressed around 1,000 gay activists and their supporters who gathered at a park in downtown Belgrade surrounded by riot police and armoured vehicles.

"We are here to celebrate the values of tolerance, freedom of expression and assembly," Mr Degert told the crowd.

While the Gay Pride parade was moving though the city, several hundred protesters began chanting at those taking part as they tried to get close to the march.

"The hunt has begun," the AFP news agency reported them as saying. "Death to homosexuals."

Reports told of gangs of skinheads roaming the streets, throwing petrol bombs and setting off firecrackers as police battled to hold them back.

Thousands of police had sealed off central Belgrade to protect the event.

While the march took place in a heavily-protected area in and around Majek park, violence flared at several points further afield in central Belgrade.

And you signed up to take the side of those that wounded 150 cops? Or it’s all worth? What’s a bit of anarchy among friends, eh?

That just kind of leaps out at you.

Here you have a fascist state forcing the acceptance of a deviant, nihilistic lifestyle as a “good” when it goes against Natural Law and common sense.

Homosexualists have nothing to celebrate unless they leave the destructive, anti-social lifestyle. The state should never force the unnatural on the citizens.

Like Cicero says....Laws that go against Natural Law and God’s Laws are unjust. This just proves that concept and is Marxist ideology to kill the construct of family—man and woman and the Christian religion. It is to create chaos so they can have their little revolution and absolute control.

Karl Marx was WRONG when he constructed his theory and tried to fit everything into it....he had to twist Natural Law and you just CAN’T do that in a country based in Logic, Reason, and Science. Thank goodness they have some thinking people.

I’ve been here since 1998, and I think I’ve got a better line on what this conservative board thinks than you do.

Obviously, in the Serb culture they don’t appreciate the gay agenda the way you do.

Ha! So why don’t you go to a SF or NYC gay parade and do the same (destroy and loot stores, try to kill cops, burn cars etc)?

If it’s right for them, why isn’t it for you?

While it isn't an excuse to injury anyone, maybe those protesting don't want sexual deviants flaunting their perversion on city streets with government approval. I can certainly sympathize with belief.

Yeah, I'd agree if that was really their point. Soccer hooligans are special breed of troublemaker though. I doubt they were attacking the gays to protect moral decency. More likely they were just looking for a reason to fight as is usually the case with these people.

Sorry, bub. It’s long past time that societies began standing up to the Gaystapo. Sodomy is not a human right that demands tolerance. It is a disgusting, disease-causing vice that needs to be condemned. I’d like to see these sodomites try to have a rally in Saudi and see how that goes over.

So, you support gay parades in SF and NYC....Is that correct?

Actually, I support Lexington and Concorde for any enemies foreign or domestic.

I also suppose you think Serbia is what....SF or NYC? Is that your point?

mainsail, you've been here six months, xzins has been here twelve years.

You may have joined Free Republic by accident. FR is a CONSERVATIVE forum, we don't push the militant homosexual agenda that you are trying to defend.

Exactly what do you mean, by the way, with “clero-fascist” scum about those who oppose gay pride parades.

Are you a member of GOProud or the Log Cabin Republicans?

Hey troll, if you want to support the sodomites, that is your right (though Free Republic IS NOT the appropriate place for it). But, you are seriously out-of-line to accuse a conservative long-time FReeper of supporting anarchy.

I see a zot in your near future.

It appears that the troll believes that orthodox clergymen are "fascists" for condemning mortal sin.

Apparently, mainsail that doesn’t realize this is an actual conservative forum.

Nor does he realize it’s impossible to be an advocate of the gay agenda and also be a conservative.

The only correct response from any gay is: “I’m sorry; I was wrong.”

Trolls know exactly where they are.

A troll's purpose is to disrupt, not realize the truth.

The only correct response from any gay is: “I’m sorry; I was wrong.”

Followed by, "I better get to a doctor immediately."

I'll bet he believes the clergy should be silent about the clear teaching of all church history and the inspired scriptures.

I typically advise idiots to get their heads out of their asses; however, sodomites are probably safer if they leave their heads there.

Good point. We are the ones who actually care about the eternal souls of those who are engaged in this deadly lifestyle. We tell them to stop.
