And, I would swear that last year they said SS would not be increased for three years. Why the surprise? Why the bracing?

Now, I realize there are far many more seniors than there are Senators and Representatives, and nearly as many as there are government workers. Can we assume none of these received income increases, either?

I may need to, but you definitely need to grow up, and quit blaming other people for your inability to take care of yourself without your government check.

Adults take care of themselves, or if they can’t they at least don’t complain so much when other people help them take care of themselves.

You know absolutely nothing about me or my finances..... fact is I paid a ton of money into SS and LBJ got rid of the lockbox and spent the money elsewhere, I STILL pay money into this worthess PONZI scheme. I would give anything to have been able to invest my money myself. You do realize they now want to steal our 401K money, too, so don’t get too big and self-righteous.

You aren’t the only one who has paid tons of money into SS. I have too. The money is gone.

Yet, I am, and have been my entire life, planned to receive anything in retirement but what I accumulate myself.

There is a difference between SS and 401k funds - SS funds were incompetent government doing what it does best - spend money collected in taxes (and then some)- it is not theft, it is simply lies - there also is no legal way to avoid SS taxes short of not working.

401k funds are folks deliberately delaying gratification by choice - they are personal funds owned by the individual doing the responsible thing and providing for their own retirement outside of the government system. There will be more than just whining if this happens.
