The problem is that once you do that, and get rid of all Obama's spending increases, you still have an unfunded liability in Soc Sec/Medicare of well in excess of 90 trillion. Not billion, trillion.
"Cutting other stuff so we don't have to cut Soc Sec/Medicare" = "Sticking the kids and grandkids with the bill", and as someone with grandkids of my own, I don't want to stick it to them.
