Just reading the inside cover is exactly what I figured happend. They sold out to the Hollywood machine!
My wife and I were discussing last night how rapidly Disney fell from the brilliant family-oriented company as recently as the early 90s to this bilge that we see today.
Looking at videos of the “old” Disney channel on YouTube that we grew up on in the 80s was so sad. Wonderful classic movies and shows that you could never think twice about letting kids watch. None of it remains.
Now it’s bad acting, terrible programming, and teens girls heading right into the skank machine.
Such a family-oriented company did not deserve to be run by someone interested only in the almighty dollar like Eisner. True, Disney is a company and has a duty to the shareholders. But some companies are formed for a purpose higher than just making money, and Disney was one of them.
