As for the future, here is a way to think. (if i may be so bold) Notice how many politicans and losers today fraudulently claim Vietnam service. Even notice that none seem to brag about waving a VC flag and burning their draft cards?

The war with Islam is far more clear cut. Our kids who VOLUNTARILY went over there will be seen as our most moral, intelligent, and decent kids. Our very best, the very flower of American society. People will want to be associated with them. Boxer etc will fade into shame.

150 years from now, they will be the ones who first fought to save us,, or as the only ones who tried. Heroes all. Every American should love them and show them the deepest gratitude.

Thanks for the input. I think this generation of vets will stand out for their HUMILITY as well (not that it is different from prior generations of vets, but it is different from those who tout their “service records” to promote themselves.

My son was driving to grandma’s for Christmas in 2005. My husband in the front seat, my daughter and I were in the back. He was on leave for the holidays. We got pulled over, a little over the speed limit. I told the state trooper it was his first Christmas home in 3 years. I said, “last year he was in Iraq, and the year before in boot camp.” He got off with a warning, but he was so upset with me saying he should not get any special breaks for being a Marine. GEEZ I raised a monster!! Not really.
