Libertarians: Still In Search Of Their Perfect World. Practically Irrelevant.
Liberty Pundits ^ | 17 October 2010 | Melissa Clouthier

Posted on 10/18/2010 9:10:24 AM PDT by Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus

I have come to believe that Libertarians are worthless. Before them, a crop of wonderful, small government candidates sit and will likely win–scores of points of optimism in a political sky that has been bleak and black. To coin a word from the opposition, there’s Hope.

Now, most of us watching this election realize that the exhausting work over the last two years has hardly begun. Once this new crop become part of the system, they’ll have to be watched and held accountable.

The most optimistic change, then, hasn’t really been these candidates. It’s been the heart of the American people. Citizens have decided that they’ve sat on their duffs long enough. It’s time to get involved. It’s time to stay involved.

The candidates aren’t perfect. No politicians are perfect. Hells bells. They’re human and mere vessels for the expression of the voters’ will.

So, I read Doug Mataconis’ piece about why Libertarians are still disenchanted even with the best electoral hope in a generation presents itself. I feel absolute disgust.

Kvetching about the social issues of a Christine O’Donnell while ignoring the economic liberties that Mike Castle would have assuredly stripped had he had his way makes no sense. How on earth can a true Libertarian even worry about such irrelevance?

What we recognize is that most libertarians are liberals and anarchists in disguise.

Make an appointment with your optometrist because your eyesight sucks.

Some government is a necessity for an orderly society.

Of course it is. Laws against the initiation of force and fraud against others are the basis of a moral and rational society.

Most libertarians have revealed themselves to be spoiled, selfish, immature brats. They want total freedom to do as they please, to he!! with the other guy; no restrictions whatsoever and no moral restraint.

I don't know of any libertarians who are arguing for 'no restrictions whatsoever'. If you can point me to some quotes or links of those who have I'd be grateful.

However my bet is that you're so personally panty wetting afraid of real freedom that you're just making that part up and couldn't point to any small "l" libertarian or any member of the Libertarian party who has said any such thing.

They think of no on but themselves and how nobody has the right to tell them what to do, all the while telling others what they have to put up with whether they like it or not.

Those people are not libertarians no matter what they call themselves. Bill Maher calls himself a libertarian, but he's not. He's much like you, I think, in the way that you call yourself a Conservative. But you're not.

I see that you agree with the zotted troll that conservatives should "concede" what the libertarians dismiss as "small and insignificant" points.

Which points do you think conservatives should conceded (choose as many as you wish):

1. Keeping pornography away from children.
2. Keeping drugs away from children.
3. Abortion.
4. Homosexual "marriage". 5. Other.

That troll was so vile, you should have given him a double-tap.

A zot-zot would have been real nice.

BS, anyone concerned with social, biological, or spiritual health would oppose homosexuality in the same way as they’d oppose tuberculosis.

There’s no need for repressed urges in order to oppose homosexuality.

The only Rights I support for homosexuals are the Rights mentioned in the first 8 Amendments to the US Constitution. Period.

I've read that sacred document very, very carefully and I have never once found a "Right" to get married. Nor have I ever found a "Right" to a job or medical care for that matter.

That being said I really don't give a rip what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes. What I object to is the agenda being rammed down my throat with my tax dollars.

I don't want it taught to my kid in school.

I don't want my Government supporting a lifestyle choice with my money.

Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution clearly enumerates the powers of Congress and who boinks who and how ain't one of them.

Homosexuality used to be "the love that dare not speak its name."

Now it's the love that won't shut the hell up.

I don’t care what they do in the privacy of their own bedrooms, but I’ll thank them to keep it out of my face, out of our public bathrooms, away from our childrens playgrounds, off of our streets, out of our churches, out of our schools, away from our children and OUT of our government!!

Thanyouverymuch!!

NO thank you very much.

(See tagline)

For Lurker to repeat the liberal dogma of “I don’t care what they do in the privacy of their own bedrooms....” simply underscores the sad state of moral decay our country is in.

Look. Sexual perversion begins in the bedroom. Then it increases in number to the living room via the internet and TV. Next it makes its way into our streets and communities. Don’t forget our schools. Can you say Kevin Jennings is a fisting fool? Sure you can. Upthread I FReeped on how I longed for a return to decency in America when we had anti-sodomy laws. Naturally a liberal (Hemingway’s Ghost) went ape-bleep over that.

I repeat: Yes, as a matter of fact, what you do in your bedroom IS my business.

Libertarians always deny that they themselves smoke dope or take drugs, but that people should have the freedom to do so without fear.

Their irrationality and complete divorce from real life often make me think they lie about the above assertion.

And I say this as a former dope smoker and user of some other drugs as well, so I know exactly what happens to cognitive thinking abilities when under the influence.

A thread not long ago detailed the Real Official Libertarian Party platform.

They want:

No legal restrictions on homosexuals in the military, getting married, or in any other way, shape or form.

They want no legal restrictions on abortion.

They want no legal restriction on porn - on buses, daytime TV, whatever.

They want no legal restrctions on drug use.

They want open borders.

IOW, they are insane and anyone who agrees with the above is insane and totally divorced from reality and the founding principles and philosophy of our country.

The only argument libertarians can possibly use is that they don’t actually follow the Libertarian party platform if they don’t agree with all of the above. In that case, why do they espouse libertarianism, pray tell.

You made very much the same threat against me weeks ago in this very thread.

See post 80.

But yet you still refuse to see how YOU are part of the problem America has with gays.

YOU are to blame - with your tolerant and complacent attitudes.

I can’t stand Liberals.

You must be aware of the Libertarian Party Platform, since you are heavily involved in the party.

They want no legal restrictions on homosexual behavior and are in favor of homosexuals in the military, “gay” marriage, and so on.

Are you in agreement with the Libertarian Party Platform or in disagreement with it?

Please answer “yes” or “no”.
