Video: Hickenlooper accuses rural Coloradans of “backward thinking”, ties them to Shepard murder
HOTAIR ^ | 10/22/2010 | Ed Morrissey

Nothing says “sophisticate” quite like running down the rubes who live in the sticks, does it? After all, Barack Obama got elected after calling rural voters people “bitter” and who only “cling to guns or religion” through ignorance and fear. Via Mary Katharine Ham, John Hickenlooper offers an Obama-esque assessment of the rural and exurban voters in Colorado and assigns to them the same motivations that played into the murder of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming. The money quote occurs at about the two-minute mark in this interview

John Hickenlooper, Obama, and most other democrats:

“You are retarded inbred imbeciles whom I despise in every way.”

“Now vote for me!”

I’ve heard several times from people from Wyoming that Shepard’s murder was a drug deal that went wrong.

One of Hickenlooper’s employees, an illegal with a criminal record, shot and killed a police officer.

The murderer then fled to Mexico and it took a long time to get him back to CO to stand trial.

From what I have seen of the Buck campaign I expect this will be getting out there, one way or another, very soon. Buck is not afraid to mix it up from what I have seen.

Is that guy a pole smoker himself? He sure sounds like one.

I've met a lot of Coloradans, and if it's the state they say it is, in a little over a week we'll be saying "Congratulations, Governor-elect Tancredo." I sure hope so...Tancredo's the man!

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Buck isn’t running against Hick, but Tancredo is. I bet Tom uses this in a ad. :)

Buck is not running against Hickenlooper. Tancredo is. Tancredo is not one who pulls punches either. Oh, yeah, there is that technical GOP candidate also in the race as a non-factor.

Hickenlooper: I think a couple things, I mean, you know, the tragic death of Matthew Shepard occurred in Wyoming. Colorado and Wyoming are very similar. We have some of the same, you know, backwards thinking in the kind of rural Western areas you see in, you know, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico.

Lane: We’re neighbors.

Hickenlooper: Right. And in a sense we’re all a community. And, at the same time, Denver has, I think, one of the more robust, politically active gay and lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered communities, really in the United States.

The quote- needs to be made into an ad, with the title HICKENLOOPER- GOVERNOR FOR DENVER. This would be a great play on his campaign literature which says HL, Gov for all of colorado.

" backwards thinking in the kind of rural Western areas you see in, you know, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico."

Don't you just love the carpetbaggers
from the east who hate the life in the west.

I have heard from some that chickenlooper
is a little light in the loafers.

I don’t see how he could have offended more Coloradans than he did right there.

He really branded himself the snooty urban sophisticate, declaring solidarity with the hip, cool, urban Denver milieu, taking a dump on the rest of the state and crawling up the gay’s asses.

“Governor For Denver” indeed!

Yes, yes. I already voted for Tancredo over the leftist hick (and Buck over the Obama sock puppet). I guess it is still early or my meds kicked in and I got confused. And yes, Tancredo is a fighter and quite likely to make use of this.

So, he finally opened his mouth and sure enough he revealed himself utterly in a couple of sentences. I’ve already voted for Tanc. C’mon western slope folks, don’t let this stand.

Oh, yeah. You know all those trans-basin water transfers that Denver has drooled over all these years- just wait till the MAYOR of Denver is in the statehouse. All we'll hear is a giant sucking sound as our water goes over the divide.

Now, that, right there is what Tancredo ought to be shouting day and night on the western slope.

Because out here, water is for fighting !

Hear me, Tom Tancredo ?
