NEWSWEEK Poll: Obama Approval Rating Jumps, Democrats Close ‘Enthusiasm Gap’ (BARF!!!!)
Newsweek ^ | 10-22-10 | Jim Watson

Posted on 10/22/2010 8:13:17 PM PDT by Justaham

As the president’s numbers climb sharply, results suggest that Democrats may be succeeding in firing up their base.

Despite doom-saying about Democrats’ chances in the midterms, the latest NEWSWEEK Poll (full results) shows that they remain in a close race with Republicans 12 days before Election Day, while the president’s approval ratings have climbed sharply. The poll finds that 48 percent of registered voters would be more likely to vote for Democrats, compared with 42 percent who lean Republican (those numbers are similar to those in the last NEWSWEEK Poll, which found Democrats favored 48 percent to 43 percent). President Obama’s approval ratings have jumped substantially, crossing the magic halfway threshold to 54 percent, up from 48 percent in late September, while the portion of respondents who disapprove of the president dropped to 40 percent, the lowest disapproval rating in a NEWSWEEK Poll since February 2010. However, his approval rating, which is notably higher than many recent polls of the president’s popularity, may be evidence of a closing “enthusiasm gap” more than a sea change in voter attitudes, and may not substantially affect Democrats’ fortunes come Election Day. In 1994, NEWSWEEK Polls showed a similar steep climb in President Clinton’s approval between late September and late October, but Democrats still suffered a rout in the midterms.

Newsweek is the most leftist news magazine. I don’t take their polls seriously, let alone any poll.

Wishful thinking. Let them have their pipe dreams. No harm done. It will make the evening of Nov. 2nd more enjoyable.

I agree with that

As soon as Democrats discover the Right Message to explain the spending, the debt, the ridiculously high unemployment, and what happened to the trillion dollars in stimulus money, Obama will once again be perceived as a god by everyone.

The Rats are shovel-ready for the dust bin of history.

Epic Fail-3sm

ROFLMAO!! If Newsweek’s entire corporation is only worth $1 on sale, then what does that say how much their LUDICROUS polling is worth??? Given that every other polling outfit in the entire universe currently has Obama’s approval rating in the low to mid-40s and the GOP with a 7-19 point lead in the general congressional ballot, you could say Newsweek’s polling data is an OUT-LIAR! ROFLMAO!!

But LOL I’m sure the left-wing extremists at the The Daily Kooks and the DU(H) will jump up and down over this idiotic poll and spew their phony optimism when we all know the entire left-wing be on suicide alert come November 3rd!!

I do think that some voters are feeling less threatened by Obama, knowing that the GOP takeover of the House is imminent.

It’s Deja Vu all over again. In 1994 President Clinton’s popularity took a phony rise that Newsweek printed as Propaganda to help Democrats in the election!!

In 2010 President Obama’s popularity took a phony rise that Newsweek printed as Propaganda to help Democrats in the election!!

Magazine sold for $1 in 2010 to Dem Congresswoman Jane Harmon’s Husband. Can you say conflict of interest!!

Anybody think it could be possible that George Soros is backup up Wikileaks??

The whole thing smells fishy and whoever is behind it has really declared WAR on the US military.

Not exactly known for their accuracy. In 2006 they had Democrats winning by 15%. They won by 8.1%. Similar accuracy would mean a 4% Republican win this year, though I doubt it’ll be that close.

One interesting thing to note is that their likely voter turnout is 77% of all adults, which compares to about 60% in presidential elections and 40% in typical midterm elections in the real world.

By their model maybe they’re not that inaccurate. After all, Gallup shows a Republican lead of 17% for 40% turnout, and 11% for 55% turnout. By extension a 77% turnout would make for an even race, so Newsweek is really only off by 3!

“...expect them to raise the stolen election flag...”

And watch them pour gasoline on the flames of Socialist Revolution.

IMHO

This is nothing more than a last-minute, incredibly DESPERATE ploy by the Dinosaur Media to suppress Republican and conservative voters(and their asssociated enthusiasm) and artificially encourage DemocRAT and leftist voters to go vote for the ‘RATS. Such blatant lies and spin masquerading as a legitimate ‘news’ is just too much to bear first thing in the morning. Grief! I haven’t even had my morning coffee.

The propaganda is getting absurdly over-the-top. Its credibility is below zero. Its bufoonish. This is a clown poll. This is almost a parody of the silly polls the media publishes before every election to influence them in a leftist direction.

Newsweek having just been bought for $1 - by the husband of democrat congresswomen Jane Harman - it looks like the left/democrat-party bought this propaganda real cheap.

That explains it. What the lefty media does is they promote their doctored polls showing the dems in the best light throughout the campaign and then a day or two before election day, they publish more accurate polling so they are not caught embarrassed election day.
