ARLINGTON, Texas | Sometimes the last one is the hardest one.
Why? I dont know, Texas manager Ron Washington said. But you know, sometimes I do believe its already written, and if its supposed to happen, it usually happens in a huge way.
It happened Friday night in Texas as the Rangers finally earned a trip to the World Series with a 6-1 victory over the Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
The World Series is coming to Texas, longtime Rangers infielder Michael Young said. These fans have waited longer than we have. I know how bad we wanted it and they must have wanted it more.

I don't think I saw former president George W. at the stadium during ALCS...Did RNC tell him to stay out of sight? You know...Election is coming up...
I am sure that former president is very happy about Rangers now...
Who knows what Tom Hicks might be feeling right now? The team finally goes to WC after he is gone...
I am not so sure that Rangers could beat either Giants or Phillies...But, going to WC is a great achievement...
Jerry Jones...His team isn't doing too well now...What a contrast...
My dad was a huge rangers fan. We had season tickets growing up. My dad passed away in May. Never got to see his team in the world series.
He will be watching from Heaven! Go TEXAS!
God bless your Dad and your family.
President Bush was there for one of the games....he’s there, often. And, so is Laura. Tonite, Gov. Rick Perry was there.
Soooo proud of this team!! Fear the deer!
And fear the CLAW!!!
Very happy to see the Rangers send the Yankees packing. Of course, I’m a Sox fan so whaddaya expect? GO RANGERS!
Um, slight Freudian slip there. When Hicks owned them, the Rangers were IN the WC, now with him gone, they are going to the WS!
Congrats to my second-favorite team! Win four more!
I made a mistake...It’s WS...Not WC...I just messed up the spelling...
I am glad that the former president actually attended an ALCS game...I hope to see him again during World Series...
Congratulations Rangers.
GWBush was there at the beginning of the series sitting with Nolan Ryan.
When his picture flashed up on the screen there were huge cheers.
Great news!!! And, great for the Dallas (Arlington) economy!!! Thanks Nolan Ryan & Company!!! You are not only great Texans, but great Americans, too!! And on the evening of November 2, 2010, the magnificent & free state of Texas will turn even more red politically!!! Rick Perry will wipe out the weak and failure Democrat Bill White and the Pubbies and conservatives will have an unbelievable successful election cycle. Go Rangers & Pubbies!!! Obama, you need not attend!!!
From a Yankee’s fan, hats off to the Rangers: Congrats.
What better way to end it with than Gay-rod to go down looking!
I can’t believe it. As stange as this may sound, as a Rangers fan this never occured to me. We watched the Rangers, had fun, cursed the rag arms in the bullpen, and moved on to the Cowboys come September.
But they did it. They’re really in ther World Series.
May father-in-law passed away in early 2004, your comments remind me of what my wife said when the Red Sox won the World Series. Of course, they had won it previously in 1918, when he was four.
How can any real baseball fan not LOVE the Rangers? Great scrappy team, they play the most exciting baseball in the majors. There are teams and cities I could never root for, the Rangers and Dallas(-Fort Worth) are not one (or two) of them.
Congrats to Rangers fans. They have a special team this year and seem to be clicking on all cylinders. Your dad would be proud.
As a lifelong Yankees fan, this sucks; as someone who was very impressed that the Rangers wore Texas flags on their uniforms with no Union flag, I thought it was great!
