Finally some good news for Democrats
Althouse | 10/26/2010 | Prof. Ann Althouse

I'm trying to understand the scope of the political theater depicted in the video and reported here. The woman, a Moveon.org employee, came to the debate to create a scene, we're told, by presenting a joke "award" to Ron Paul.

In the video from CNN affiliate WDRB, several men wearing Rand Paul shirts or stickers are seen ripping a blonde wig off the head of Lauren Valle and pushing her to the ground. One of the men stomps on her shoulder with his foot, which then lands on the side of her head.

Are the men in the T-shirts also from Moveon.org? Who were they? There were no arrests and though there was a crowd, no one bothered to have detained these men. Did they just melt back into the night? It's very convenient that these bad actors were wearing labels identifying them.

"We don't know the suspect. We're in the process of trying to review the video tapes," said Lt. Edward Hart. "Where this took place, there were no police officers."

All of the people who accosted Valle in the video are subject to charges, Hart said.

Valle, who complained of soreness to her temple, told police she would seek medical attention herself.

So her head was on the curb and her neck was stomped, but she will go off and take care of herself?

I'm skeptical!

It looked to me like the guy sort of stepped (not really stomped) on her shoulder. Not her head. It looked more like performance art than an attack.

I agree, no one was arrested? The “cops” are looking into it. She doesn't need medical attention? and somehow the CNN camera missed her assault on a women with a leg problem?

TOOOOO convienent

When I saw the video I thought, this guy knows he is being filmed (cameras were very close) and he puts his foot on the gals head? I found it odd. Now, I think it was a set up by the scum at Move On.org - they are so desperate and truly are miserable souls. Noting is beneath them and they are proud of that fact. Pitiful specimens. I hope they get found out!!!!

Sounds like it could be, literally, Nazi tactics. The Nazis used to go to opponents’ rallies and deliberately cause violence at an otherwise peaceful meeting.

Note that everyone is ignoring this part...
The second occurred after a Conway supporter stepped on the foot of a female Rand supporter, who recently had foot surgery, according to police.

The woman was wearing a surgical boot, but after the injury, her incision was cut open. Police say she refused medical treatment and also filed an assault report.

We were thinking that the entire thing might have been staged.
Would like to know the identity of the men who “attacked” her.

My thoughts are there is a smelly rat involved. We all know how much they lie.

(hat tip Rush)
So an unknown woman, wearing a disguise, carrying signs from a radical organization, shoves her way through a crowd and tries to shove an unknown object at a political candidate? And people are making her the victim?

What would the Secret Service have done if someone tried to do this to President Obama?

Why not look up her history, this woman has a history of political stunts.

There are big Reichstag fires and little ones. This looks to be a little one.

I think I speak for all FReepers when I say that even if this is a fakeout we can’t have a R candidate with this sort of stain. We need to remember that we are not just electing candidates who have to be perfect, but we also are electing an entourage.

If a supporter, or someone claiming to be a supporter, does something that makes me feel uncomfortable, then we have no choice but to never support that candidate again. I think I speak for all FReepers when I say it is better to continue to lose forever by finding something some supporter said or did to cause me to support the Democrat opponent than to elect someone with that kind of supporter.

Sanctimonious FReepers unite and commence operation lose-it-all-smugly. Follow in the footsteps of those brave Sanctimonious ones in Connecticut who supported Joe Lieberman instead of 3 other better candidates and those who supported Barack Obama in Illinois for senate.

IMHO this was a set up by Moveon. The ones who restrained her may be Paul supporters but the one who stomped probably was with her.Notice she smiles the whole time like she knows she is being filmed.

“Notice she smiles the whole time like she knows she is being filmed.”

That was my initial reaction, as well.

Thoughts?

Rush debunked this pretty well. She was a professional agitator, her intentions were unclear, and the reaction has been exaggerated by the Dem-leaning press. My take? As long as Ron Paul didn't stomp on her head himself, or scream encouragement, it should be irrelevant to the election issues.
