National Football League Backs Reid Over Angle; Invests $340,000 to Save Incumbent Congress

The National Football League’s political action committee—Gridiron PAC—has weighed in on the hotly contested U.S. Senate election in Nevada that pits conservative Republican challenger Sharron Angle against Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid.

The PAC has given $10,000 to Reid—the maximum it can give in a single election cycle—and no money to Angle, according to Federal Election Commission data compiled by OpenSecrets.org.

The NFL’s PAC also contributed to other incumbent Democratic senators facing viable challengers this year, giving $5,000 to Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas; $5,000 to Russ Feingold of Wisconsin; $5,000 to Barbara Boxer of California; $5,000 to Michael Bennet of Colorado; and $5,000 to Patty Murray of Washington.

In none of these races did the NFL’s PAC contribute to the Republican challenger.

Of the $341,000 the NFL’s PAC has contributed to congressional candidates in this election cycle, $340,000 has gone to incumbents. The other $1,000 went to Brian Rooney, an unsuccessful Republican primary candidate in a U.S. congressional district in Michigan, who is the grandson of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney.

NFL needs to hear from former athletes and current athletes who are appalled as this partisan support for those who are destroying America and dismantling the very economic system that allows the NFL to exist!

Force the NFL to feel the heat that the VFW felt when veterans expressed outrage at VFW support for Dems.

Hey, if this thinking gets you through the night and helps you justify why you watch the NFL and/or cheer for the Eagles, then good for you. Sleep on this now... Dogs are similar to children in that they rely on humans to survive, and they naturally trust humans. I trust more dogs than I do people. In fact, most dogs are more intelligent than Democrats or anyone who voted for Barry. Vick, the human POS, electrocuted them, shot them, stabbed them, poisoned them, hung them, beat them to death, tied female dogs (aka, Joy Behar’s, as in “bitches”) to posts to be raped by other dogs... He is a POS and should be rotting in prison, making marriage vows to his new boyfriend Bubba. NO forgiveness from me - ever! Have a nice day.

hehehe...obviously i dont condone such either, and in the interest of 'fair market value' and the expressed consent of the NFL, i will only use this tool for 'research' purposes...

thanks...

The NFL also smeared Rush as a racist.

Which makes you wonder why Rush still talks about them quite frequently, especially after they fired him after one game as a TV commentator and rejected him as a part owner of the St. Louis Rams.

There is no better example of "crony capitalism" than the NFL!

I always thought that Roger Goodell was a conservative, especially since his wife Jane Skinner was a broadcaster on FOX News.

C'mon, now, the NFL selecting a conservative as commissar would be analogous to the Catholic Church selecting a Buddhist as pope.

Goodell's father, Charles Goodell, was a RINO US senator from New York appointed by then Gov. Rockefeller to fill Bobby Kennedy's seat when Kennedy was assassinated. My guess would be that Roger is no longer a Republican, if in fact he ever was.

Watching the NFL doesn’t make me a bad Christian. Not forgiving others when Christ forgave you. That’s a bad Christian. Take a look in the mirror.

Dear Almondjoy,

I guess Almond Joy really is nuts... I mean, “got nuts”. Sorry, don’t know how I could have made that mistake.

Bunnies, and butterflies and flowers and peace and love... I think I just tasted bile. Thanks for the pious and nauseating and apparently misplaced comment. Just what are you smoking? I did not ask you nor do I care if you are Christian. Congratulations. Perhaps, you protest a little much. Hmmmm? Allow me to reiterate...”snapped legs”...”snap, crackle, pop”...no forgiveness - EVER. Oh, I just looked in the mirror, and I look great!

You are welcome. Of course, if you do not agree with it or simply do not like it, then it is “childish”. Are you a Democrat? Please go away.
