CNN reporting via Fran Townsend, a “tip from an ally” within the last 24 hours that bomb packages sent from Yemen by al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula were being sent to Chicago synagogues.

Did you get the idea that these "packages" were components to make bombs? I thought I heard Brian Ross, ABCNews, refer to them as pieces to construct bombs here.
