'Bloodbath'
ABC News ^ | November 3, 2010 | Jake Tapper

President Obama made more than 60 phone calls last night to Democrats up for reelection. As fate would have it, most of those calls were to those who lost, including outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who lost her majority.

As the night went on, the president and his aides watched candidates for whom they held out hope drown in a crimson tide.

Virginia Democrats Rick Boucher and Tom Perriello - gone. Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland - gone. Three presidential visits to Pennsylvania were not enough to save Rep. Joe Sestak's Senate campaign or five House Democrats. Another five Ohio House Democrats fell as well.

President Obama's own senate seat was won by Rep. Mark Kirk, R-Ill. Newly elected swing state governors in Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Michigan will be working to help the president's 2012 opponent.

"Bloodbath," emailed one top Democrat as election returns made it clear that White House hopes to contain the damage to a 50-seat net Republican gain were for naught.

President Obama is said to be introspective about the returns, though the loss of the House was not a surprise. He will be "conciliatory" at a 1 pm ET press conference.

There is still corruption in the system, we’ve all seen the slimy things they do, ie, Meg Whitman, her housekeeper and Gloria Allred... we will never be completely rid of it, BUT, we “full court press” on. A positive here is that the SOCIALIST DEMS still control power at the fed level but states have swung heavily right. That means more states joining the fight against Obamacare and his intent to “Transform America”. Obama will remain recalcitrant against America and her drive to remain America. This will serve to produce a completion of their thwacking, two years from now. WE ARE AMERICA! They are pretenders, socialists, and dividers. We have news for them, WE HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN!!! so don’t loose heart, give up or give in... just KICK ASS, ya hear!!

I am enjoying the plight of those in CA who kept their corrupt officials in office.

Ditto, NV.

Out of curiosity, I just went through the list of Blue Dogs, to see what happened to them.

Of the 54 members that are listed on their website...

23 were re-elected
28 lost to Republicans
2 ran for senate seats and lost (and their house seats went R)
1 didn’t run (and his seat went D)

Bloodbath, indeed.

‘Some of the “no compromise” rhetoric Republicans are using is a misreading of the public mood, a senior White House official said.’

I guess I was wrong about why I feel the way I do. I’ll have to call the White House next time I have a ‘public mood’.

We did very well last night. Time to consolidate our gains and move on to the next targets.

I agree! The battle has been joined and we won a helluva lot last night. It is time to examine both our victories and our losses and get ready for 2012 and beyond. Onward and upward.

We must not forget that the Dems WANTED the GOP to win the Senate if the GOP took the House.

Relax people, The GOP did amazing and it can throw its weight around and not be held respondsible.

That’s it — this is Round One in a long and desperate battle. Sharpen your swords, pick up the dead, assess the WINS, on to the next. We will never back down, and we will be relentless in our fight to regain our country.

Although we are discouraged here in California, we are not surprised. Pot went down!! Amazing!! And the rest of the country — you guys were stupendous. A clean sweep in the House? WE control the money?! WE control the funding of ObamaCare?! That’s a terrific win.

Do not be discouraged. California is the last mess left from the 60s, because the old hippies still live here, tucked away in the cesspool lefty corners. We will be victorious — Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I think, tho, that after a battle in WW2, for instance — was it really the Allies who were blamed and bad-mouthed if they lost? Or did they think they did the best they could, polish their rifles, and plan for the next battle?

Just a point, and a reason I am optimistic. Blue Minnesota went red in both state houses. That hasn’t happened in a generation. I’m celebrating today!
