The Election to Restore Sanity
Human Events ^ | 11-8-10 | Gary Bauer

Surely this was not what Jon Stewart had in mind. Three days after the comedian performed before some 200,000 liberals at the Rally to Restore Sanity on the National Mall, 90 million Americans rallied to their polling stations to make his theme a reality.

Young people (though conspicuously few minorities) came out in droves for the clown-fest. But very few of them (approximately half as many as in 2008, by one estimate, and fewer than in the 2006 mid-terms) bothered to show up on Election Day.

It seems that liberals would sooner listen to smug comedians parody conservatives than to vote for smug politicians whose policies parody constitutional governance. At a time of near 10 percent unemployment, most Americans aren’t in a laughing mood.

For two years the Left has branded conservative opposition to the Democratic agenda as irrational, unstable, and possibly insane. But it’s the conservative revival that will help restore stability by stopping or moderating the most irrational and radical elements of President Obama’s policy program.

Two years ago, liberal pundits predicted that Obama’s election had launched an era of Democratic ascendance and Republican decline. James Carville wrote a book in 2009 entitled “40 More Years: How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation.”

But as retiring Democratic Senator Evan Bayh admitted in a New York Times op-ed on Election Day, “It is clear that Democrats over-interpreted our mandate. Talk of a ‘political realignment’ and a ‘new progressive era’ proved to be wishful thinking.”

The liberal media’s belittling of conservatives as unserious and unstable is a case of the pot calling the Tea Party kettle black. As George Neumayr has pointed out, “the Democratic Party is now led in large part by comics.”

A lot of Dems hitting their heads against the wall for blindly following “the one”....Idiots...All they had to do was listen to the people they represent...which is what they’re supposed to do.

Thsi story claims minorities did no come out.

Well: They came out in POG and Charles County Maryland.

Steny Hoyer owes his seat to minorities who came out there.

We had an excellent opponent in Charles Lollar, a man who kicked Steny’s butt for him every time they met.
Unfortunately the blacks in these counties did not care to hear the truth, they succomed to the plantation mentality, passed on electing a smart black man in favor of electing the same old entitlement king -—Hoyer.

When your enemy is in the process of destroying himself, don’t interfere. The Democrats helped to elect more Republicans in our nation’s history this year than the GOP could have done on its own and as long as the Democrats continue down their path, they will only help to elect more Republicans in the future.

It seemed like every time Obama or Pelosi opened their mouth in the weeks before the election, it helped our cause.

Stewart's "Restore Sanity" gathering, reminisant of a Woodstock event, did help us. After seeing the kind of hateful signs the attendees carried...after hearing the hateful comments of the speakers...and after looking at the ridiculous costumes (did they dress for Halloween or a political gathering?) many wore - Americans laughed at them and voted for the Conservatives. We did restore sanity, thank God!!! Stewart wanted to offset the tidal wave of appeal of the Glenn Beck "Restoring Honor" event. But Beck's almost 1 million attendees (who participated by being on the mall, watching on the Internet, and on TV)were a respectable crowd, and speakers did not incite hatred or smear Republicans.

Yes, Stewart's expensive, hyped up fiasco helped to remind us just why we had to get the Liberals out and restore sane leadership in Washington. Thanks, Jon, even though this was the opposite of the reaction you thought you would get...you were a great help in reminding Americans that it is time for ethical, moral, and America-loving adults to lead.

Stewart will no doubt repeat the liberal line...it would have been much worse had we not had the rally. Just like the liberal line the economy would have been much worse, had the demonrats not intervened.
