Defeated Democrats Pen Letter to Implore Pelosi to step aside
FOX News ^ | Nov 8, 2010 | Chad Pergram

OX has obtained a letter being penned by defeated House Democrats that implores House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to step aside.

The letter is now circulating Capitol Hill and has not yet been sent to the Speaker. FOX has obtained draft language of the letter.

In the draft of the letter, the members say that they were "victimized by a national wave of resentment toward Democrats, a wave that ensnared you along with us."

The letter goes on to say "Madam Speaker, fairly or unfairly, Republicans made you the face of the resentment and disagreement in our races. While we commend your years of service to our party and your leadership through many tough times, we respectfully ask that you step aside as the top Democrat in the House."

The letter says that the defeated members "fear that Republicans will further demonize you, and in so doing, they will scare potential candidates out. The prospect of having to run against their own party leadership, in addition to their Republican opponent is simply too daunting."

The lawmakers also say that "one mark of a strong leader is the ability to discern when it is time to pass the baton" and calls this a "dark hour."

The letter closes asking Pelosi to step aside.

If the rat, who is carrying her purse wasn’t defeated. This picture should be the main campaign theme in 2012.

I had not noticed the person carrying the purse and holding hands with the other person (I'm trying to be politically correct here). Does anybody know what are their names? And were they re-elected?

I prefer her to resign her office, and let a special election decide who takes her seat.

She is NOT going anywhere!

She has toooo much "baggage" that she need to cover up!!

Especially her "sworn"(?) eligibility or the none-eligibility of the usurper's qualification on the ballots!!!

I'm really looking forward to seeing on TV the moment that Nancy hands the gavel to Boehner.

Perhaps a creative FReeper could set the moment to music. How about...

Gimme Dat Gavel!

I think you are right on that. This letter is from the defeated dems who don’t get to vote on her reelection as speaker. You know the somewhat sane ones who know why they were beat as a warning and as a last slap at Madame Speaker.Makes great press but has little to do with who is elected speaker unless the liberal wing takes note and gets cold feet.

Well this is shaping up great! I might have to start a hot appetizer ping list. And maybe a dessert one too.

Me too, please. I've always been fond of those little quiches sold at the big chain food stores. And lemon mousse for dessert. :)

I had tripe and chicken feet as Dim Sum appetizers yesterday at Li Wah. Then cuttlefish in black bean sauce as the main course. Makes quiche and mousse seem kinda pedestrian! Even if they do taste great! 8^)

Some artichoke heart/cheese dip? Reuben dip that has sauerkraut and chopped up corned beef in it? That cheese baked in pastry crust stuff?

Lemon mousse sounds good. I just remembered I have a gingerbread mix and lemon pudding in the cabinet, might have to make those up soon.

In my humble opion, this exercise is the beginning of the Democrats trying to rebuild the credibility of the “blue dogs”. The reality is that the Democrats cannot retake the House of Representatives without a lot of blue dogs getting elected in moderate districts. Blue Dog Democrats are left-wingers who run to the right to get elected and then lay low as overt left-wingers in the Democrat party pass bad legislation. Often times, blue dogs don’t neesd to vote for Democrat legislation...they simply need to skip those votes. They provide the Democrats the majority and allow the left-wingers in the House to control the committees.

This letter is an attempt (and I predict that it will ultimately be successful) to make sure the blue dogs get credit for Nancy Pelosi retiring. When she does, all of the remaining blue dogs will be able to tell their constituencies that they are “independant” of the left-wingers in their party with the hope that moderate districts will be fooled and vote for blue dog democrats in future elections. I’m not sure that its going to work now that talk radio and the internet is there to keep an eye on them.

trying to decide if this is a delusional Pelosi acting on her own to maintain power, or if this whole thing is a set up to make it look like the ‘moderates’ are going to wrestle control of the party from the leftists out in the open to show the voters they are changing. I put nothing past these people.

Yep, you're right...thats what they are trying to do. The Democrats will never be able to win back control of the House of Representatives unless blue dogs and moderates win elections in moderate districts. I don't know if its going to work anymore, though.

Exactly.

And I certainly hope they're reflecting on how many times they were told they were going to be fired if they ignored the American people.

Perhaps the next group of so-called 'conservative Dems' have been given some food for thought in case they allow themselves to be bullied by the radicals in charge of their party to make stupid decisions.

I would think that keeping their jobs would be worth the busted knee caps they would have sustain had they resisted the thugs. :)

"...victimized by a national wave of resentment toward Democrats, a wave that ensnared you along with us."

"Ensnared" the Wicked Witch of the West? And Obama is "a moderate". It's such obvious bullpucky that it's funny.

This is some sort of ploy. Has to be.
