Top GOP senator: Obama's 2012 odds are tied to national security (SUPER-RINOS MCCAIN/GRAHAM ALERT)
The Washington Post ^ | 2010-11-07 | Karen DeYoung

President Obama stands a good chance of being reelected in 2012 if he makes progress in Afghanistan, he adopts a tougher line against Iran, the economy improves and there are no major terrorist attacks in the United States, a senior Republican said Saturday.

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), who has become a leading GOP national security spokesman, said that if Obama is looking for cooperation with Republicans, a continued U.S. military effort in Afghanistan is "one area where Republicans feel comfortable standing by the president" and are likely to give him more support than many in his own party.

Although Graham predicted Republican support for more aggressive U.S. involvement in the world, he acknowledged that some new members of Congress, particularly those elected under the tea party banner, are likely to have different foreign policy views.

"The Republican Party is going to have two wings," he said at a high-level security conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, sponsored by the German Marshall Fund and the Canadian government. "The isolationist wing, and the wing led by [Sen. John] McCain [Ariz.], Graham and [Sen. Jeff] Sessions [Ala.] that says you'd better stay involved in the world because if you do disengage, you'll regret it."

"If you ask Rand Paul about NATO and ask Rob Portman, you'll get two different answers," Graham said. Paul, just elected GOP senator from Kentucky, is a tea party favorite. Portman, a former House member and George W. Bush administration international trade representative, has a record of foreign involvement.

"The isolationist wing, and the wing led by [Sen. John] McCain [Ariz.], Graham and [Sen. Jeff] Sessions [Ala.]..."

There are two wings of the GOP: the Tea Party, and the traitorous Vichy RINOs.

Guess which group you fall into, Lindsey!

I think I speak for most FReepers when I say that even if we are in the midst of worldwide depression that makes the Great Depression look like a party in 2012, I’ll vote for The One if there’s proof that a few more girls are able to be free in Afghanistan and Iraq enough to attend madrassas and learn to hate the Great Satan just like the boys.

Admitting that you would vote for Obama is probably not a good thing to say here.

“Sen. Lindsey O. Graham”

This airhead gets so much air time, because he reflects the same Liberal echo chamber that surrounds and infuses the LameStreamMedia.

Lindsay Grahamcracker IS the media’s voice in the GOP. That’s his job.

Juanito and Lindsey have to do their phoney saber rattling to distract from their soon to be sponsored amnesty bill.

I much preferred the Bush doctrine in Afghanistan...the drone attacks on the Taliban..It was a form of Taliban pesticide...kept them at bay, was cost effective, and about as good as we are going to get in the region...

Obama is now getting soldiers killed in Afghanistan by turning them into IED magnets, while the soldiers attempt to create a civilization there.

Even if we are in a depression that makes the Great Depression look like a disco party, the War will be the defining issue of our day, just like it was last week. Just look at the voter polls. The War dominated. If there are more litter girls going to Great Satan hating, Wahabbist, madrassas, that means we are winning the war. And the commander in chief gets my vote because he’s winning the war. I think I speak for most FReepers when I say the war needs to last 10000 years and I don’t care ifwe spend every last dime on it, because we must win for Democracy in other countries, as the founders intended.

I did look at the voter polls, and the issue that dominated was the economy.

And the commander in chief gets my vote because he’s winning the war.

Admitting that you want to vote for Obama...*snicker*.

I think I speak for most FReepers

Put down the bong.

Please.

because we must win for Democracy in other countries, as the founders intended.

You've got the Founders mixed up with Woodrow Wilson, a very naughty progressive-Marxist academic who gave us the income tax, the Federal Reserve, WWI, and the precursor to the United Nations.

Dude, I think you really need to examine your sarcasm sensor. I figured there was no way you could take that second one seriously.

I’ll probably vote for Ron Paul in ‘12 like I did in ‘08.

At least you have provided me with amusement. That is why I come here. Sometimes it doesn’t work so well.

Hey Grahamnesty have you been playing with Barwney Frwank again. seems the girlish boys will stick together. Poor Lindsey, has no one to play with right now, so he continues to show his true colors a fricking bleeding heart wannabe that needs to get kicked in the balls. Him and Juan Mclame need to go permanently. How and the blank did Juan get reelected in Arizona.

Since the Won is just carrying out what was left behind by GWB and furthered by Petraeus why in the world would you give credit to the 0blivious 0bama, much less vote for him.

Why wouldn't you vote for a real, constitutional conservative POTUS that will take off the gloves and let the armed forces really control the situation and achieve the goals you want?

God is in Heaven - All’s right with the World.

Imagine if the GOP had won the Senate. Instead of Harry Reid pontificating and pandering - these two mutton chops would be in charge!!!

Better to face the enemy you know.

Given this comes from the WaPo, my first inclination would be to mistrust anything I read. But as it comes from Grahamnesty, nothing is surprising.
