Events in the French Quarter have broken many hearts for almost 300 years. It has the veneer of a happy place. It is not.

I will say this though. NOPD is a lightening rod for criticism. Much of that criticism is justified, but much is not. The NOPD has some of the wiliest, street savvy and most dedicated detectives in the nation. They will WANT to get this guy, and odds are very good that they will. About the only way this case remains open is if it was a random kook from outside, and he has fled back home. That is -very- unlikely given the area the crime took place and the clothing description of the subject. They are gonna get him.

Only 78% of the murders in New orleans go unsolved, maybe he will be one of the 22%.

*******************

The unsolved homicides are usually those where a body is found and there are no witnesses, or where witnesses are unwilling to come forward, or to be blunt where no one really cares. Given the fact that most of the murder victims are gangbangers killed by other gangbangers, there are a lot of cases where no one cares.

I have more confidence in the NOPD than in the Orleans Parish jury pools.

Beat him with the end of an M1A, then drop him into a barrier of 5 roll triple stacked razor wire and hook the wire up to the third rail and just bake off whatever is left.

The NOPD appears to be corrupt and incompetent.

“But authorities solved 75 percent of the killings that same year in Philadelphia, 92 percent in Denver and 94 percent in San Diego.”

It has been a while since I was current with it, but the homicide, vice, and armed robbery divisions were good, but overwhelmed by the sheer volume of incidents. Crime lab was great. Narcotics got pretty dodgy at times.

Before Katrina NOPD had about 1,200 officers out of a paper strength of 1,500. The city had a known population of about 35,000 convicted felons. I don’t think things have much improved.

Nevertheless, for the reasons I have already posted I think they will get this offender. The problem is that a good man will remain dead. At the end of the day, law enforcement is merely damage control. It does not achieve justice, nor can it.

let's see here. The dead man has a different complexion than the sketch of the murderer..... I guess chocolate city just isn't the right place for a non chocolate person.

I haven't been to NO since 1977 and really feel that I haven't missed much by avoiding that sh#@t hole. I tend to avoid places that I feel the need for police protection. I'd just as soon visit Compton, Detroit , Newark , Dearborn, south central LA or east St. Louis. This poor Marine would have had more fun on 6th Steeet in Austin than New Orleans.

Does anyone have a connection to a LARGE donor in New Orleans to help increase the reward? Or anywhere, for that matter — PING?

It is amazing that these slugs, these dregs of society can’t be a man without a knife or a gun. May Ryan rest in peace.

One of the VALUABLE, killed by the WORTHLESS!
I would be in favor of several Marine ReCon teams combing the city until this waste of skin is found, along with the other thugs who are preying on the innocent.
Pass it on...in New Orleans, you’re MEAT, and the predators rule.
