My thoughts also ....
but some things are troubling....
#1.. Wouldn't put it passed the Russians to pull something like this ..
But not this close to shore, inside the Pacific Defense Zone.
Could definitely be seen as a war shot resulting in a full Nuclear response.
#2..Also What about our Launch detection satellites ???
You can bet the NORAD guys at Cheyenne Mountain know about it ....

If it was a Russian sub (which I think is most likely given their recent ICBM test launches and bomber and fighter stunts), the sub would have been in international waters, right? Not an act of war.
