What irks me is, she is a multimillionaire and could have easily afforded NetJets this whole time, which to me would seem pretty secure, but she opted to screw the American public for her fancy military flights. Arrogant b_itch.
I won't pretend to know the answer to that question. But, I do know that the reason for the request was concurred by the Bush administration (who instituted the policy in the first place) and the House sergeant-at-arms (who had been at the post long before Pelosi became Speaker).
Also, instead of using the AF, she could have handled traveling public for just one time.
A spokesman for Pelosi's office has claimed she has done exactly that after the one trip on a 757, when a large aircraft was the only plane available for a trip back to her home district. But, I'm not aware of any documentation that supports it.

Baloney - there are many flights that leave for her home state from DC or wherever. Don’t believe everything ‘they’ say.
More Dem talking points: he will put all of those passengers in danger; security detail will scare passengers; one less parking spot at the airport!;
This is a minute start, but what about saving some real money!
