In the wake of Tuesday’s electoral curb-stomping, a narrative is coalescing among movement liberals that Democrats lost because of Obama’s failure to live up to the campaign pledges that he’d made to his progressive base.
The theory goes something like this: Because of Obama’s failures to close Gitmo, end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, aggressively push for a public option in the health-care bill, push for an end to DADT and/or DOMA, and make significant headway on either card check or cap-and-trade, liberals who would typically be more motivated to vote in a midterm election did not turn out, and this absenteeism of voters caused the Republican rout.
This theory is no doubt comforting to liberals, who would of course prefer not to believe that the country roundly rejected their policies at the polls.
It is probably also necessary for them to spout this theory out loud, for the sake of keeping the troops motivated for 2012. Unfortunately for them, it is completely contradicted by all the available evidence.

Hey, let the liberals continue to be in the dark as to the real message of the elections. Let them think that this disaster, from their point of view, happened because Obama wasn’t liberal enough. Let them continue to govern and campaign for 2012 promising us more liberalism and socialism and leftist policies. If they do so, it will make it that much easier to elect more conservatives to Congress and a Republican president in 2012.
I just hope that the Republican nominee for pres. in ‘12 is a true conservative, so that we see a sharp clear choice for the future.

That’s what Nancy Pelosi was celebrating on our dime on Wednesday. The Blue Dogs had served their purpose, now they were being rid of them. Government reach and power has been exploded. Over the next few years it will all kick in, the Republicans will screw it up as usual, fail to repeal anything and after a few election cycles in the wilderness, the Party of Government will be back in power and the survivors of 2010 and 2012 will rule the roost forever.
I saw an article the other day on the Huffington Post, which I have never been to before, saying that Obama’s big mistake was the stimulus only gave a small portion to creating jobs. They felt they needed another much bigger stimulus.

They have strained race relations to the point that they have lost the ability to get black voters to vote in mass for white dem candidates. They did it to themselves. Their decline will continue.
All they have to do is set up secret death squads and concentration camps. They would enjoy power forever and unlimited support from half the country.
I’m taking great pleasure in seeing the epic failure of Zero and his minions. I am tempered only by the thought that Hillary might be able to wedge in for the 2012 Demo nomination (yes, a very BIG wedge it would be!) if Zero gets totally rejected (read: by the “media”). This may galvanize an otherwise completely dejected Demo electorate and swing everything to The Old Battleaxe.
James Clyburn’s made-up third-string position as “Assistant Leader” is an absolute pie-in-the-face to black voters. The best that theroot.com can say about it is to rant on about Rush’s “Driving Miss Nancy” jibe on Friday.
