IMO, if someone had an explosive, what would stop him from leaving the screening area & coming right back into the airport to blow up the lobby instead of the plane?

The screening areas are not bomb-proof. Other posters already commented that the TSA is not setup to deal with an emergency that they are created to look for. So imagine that a terrorist walks into the scanner, and he has a belt full of explosives on him and a button in his hand. What do you, as a TSA worker, do then? Does it even matter what you do, if you have no access to proper tools and facilities?

In that example the terrorist will trigger the bomb whenever he (or his accomplice) realizes that he has been found out. He has no reason to go to the lobby; the maximum concentration of people is right around the checkpoint. If he wanted to blow things up at the lobby he could do that with ease, and even live to perform another terrorist act another day. There is no way that anyone would realize that a man with a cart full of huge suitcases walked away for 30 seconds - and that's all he needs to step outside, jump into a waiting car and be gone. Airport security, even if it were in existence, don't know that this here cart belongs to that man, and not to that woman who is just sitting there. A smart terrorist would even ask her to look after his luggage while he excuses himself for a couple of minutes.

Forget the opt out thing on the 24th. Just absolutely forget about it.

Every available person who can get to an airport on Wednesday, needs to go get in the cue line at about high noon. Then right then and there simply sit down.

The question to all of us should be...

Are we so afraid of our own government? Perhaps a better question we should ask ourselves...what will we truly do for freedom?

D, do you have a ping list for all your info?

It looks like you've added more since the last time I saw one of your posts. I really appreciate all the info you've provided and all your hard work.

If you do have a ping list, will you add me to it, please? I know your info will keep me up to date on all the lastest goings on.

Nobody that I recognize as a person with power, has died and made the TSA god.

If folks don’t like what the TSA is doing, they should vote with their feet.

Let them stand alone in their edifices. I certainly won’t be there.

Then they can F with each other, nobody else willing to put up with it.

Airline industry, Adios.

Meanwhile Muslim women will be patting themselves down so as to avoid a violation of civil rights against Islam. :)

Maybe the opt-out folks should do a mass self-patdown on the 24th to show Obama’s TSA what they think of their ridiculous rules.

Were they disappointed when they saw what it really was?

No, relieved.

“refuses to undergo the method of inspection .... will not be allowed to fly ... will not be permitted to simply leave the airport ... will have to remain on the premises to be questioned by the TSA and possibly by local law enforcement. Anyone refusing faces fines up to $11,000 and possible arrest.”

I suppose muslims will be issued a special badge from the ACLU/CAIR excusing them from compliance.

It’s a distant memory now, but I remember how pleasant flying used to be before the 70s hijackings started, then followed by the unbelievable restrictions we now face.

The term NAZI is quite appropriate if you think about the psychological methods used to keep those on the cattle cars in line.

he's only a registered sex offender and lots of FReepers --those who say they're the greatest defenders of the constitution-- think such an extra-judicial post-release execution would not only be perfectly fine and justifiable

A far more popular opinion says that if the offender is still dangerous then he should remain in prison (or under it,) and if the offender is no longer dangerous then he should have his rights restored and become a regular citizen in every aspect. The bar for being safe will be set high; for example, to qualify one has to master a good trade, like a plumber or an electrician, pass exams and get licensed (it isn't easy, street punks have no chance to pass.) Then such a guy has a solid starting point in his following life.

That would mean that 90% of offenders who are released every day should never see freedom again; but the rest should be given the same chance that everyone else has to live in peace.

This approach is based on two facts. One is that many of the released offenders re-offend as soon as they get out of the prison. Another is that offenders who were not dangerous to begin with (or railroaded, which happens) have difficulties with getting accepted back into the society. And it is understandable because of the fact #1 - a business has no assurance (or even a good possibility) that an ex-convict is not going to rob the place. By releasing criminals back onto the streets the corrections system is devaluing those who are genuinely ready to rebuild their lives.

Yes, it’s a PROVOCATION!

When did this start?

I flew to Israel back in 1977, and the “interrogation” went something like, “Welcome to the Republic of Israel.”

If you wanted to crash the economy quickly, this is a pretty good way to go about it.

Been think along those lines too. Or, maybe it's a big distraction from other nefarious activities.
