Refuse to be groped or scanned - face $11,000 fine and/or arrest

For travelers going through Spokane International Airport - or any airport - this holiday season, the choice is simple. Either go through a device that allows security personnel to see your body through your clothing, get felt up and groped, or find another way to your destination.

According to an article at the Sun-Sentinel:

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is warning that any would-be commercial airline passenger who enters an airport checkpoint and then refuses to undergo the method of inspection designated by TSA will not be allowed to fly and also will not be permitted to simply leave the airport.

If you refuse to be scanned or groped, you could face a penalty of $11,000 and possible arrest.

Miami-based TSA spokesperson Sari Koshetz told the Sentinel that passengers who first submit and then refuse the process would be questioned by authorities "until it is determined that they don't pose a threat"

The Sentinel reported that the ACLU is urging Americans to petition the Department of Homeland Security to change the policy. In a statement, the group said,

"All of us have a right to travel without such crude invasions of our privacy. Tell DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to put in place security measures that respect passengers' privacy rights. You shouldn't have to check your rights when you check your luggage."

But the TSA plans to continue the invasive practice.

Reports are the TSA folks don't like this either. So humiliate them, and let them add to the pressure to end this idiocy.

Bombs in body cavities have already been used and this won't detect those. So scanning and groping were useless even before they were implemented -- it was all only a way for Chertoff (sp?) to abuse his connections to make more money.

This can’t be legal. It’s nuts! They’re going to allow Muslim women to check themselves????? If you’re a regular American, though..... you have no basic rights in your own country!

Some of us have to really save up the cash to buy a ticket. They want to hit those people with a fine they can never pay? Debtor prison is on the way!

The airline industry will be just one more American business that obammy and his henchmen will destroy.

If I can't drive there, I won't go there is my new motto.

I’m a private citizen trying to get on a privately owned airplane. At what point did I surrender my 4th Amendment rights given to me by God?

This appears to be more about intimidation and control than actually stopping terrorist attacks.

It is only about intimidation and control (and ripping off the public for the useless scanner machines).

Obama's Fault.

ACLU wants it both ways. They usually file a lawsuit, find a friendly judge, and get their way. Not this time? Why?

“Not flying” hurts the airlines, not the TSA. Two different things.

I liked this comment from a poster on another website:

The Israelis are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners at the airports.

It’s a booth you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you. They see this as a win-win for everyone, with none of this crap about racial profiling. It also would eliminate the costs of a long and expensive trial.  Justice would be swift. Case closed!

You’re in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system . . . “Attention standby passengers — we now have a seat available on flight number XXXX. Shalom!”

Hats off to the Israelis!!!!

Sounds like false arrest and/or false imprisonment in my books.

It's time for some serious push-back, I would think that a million or so lawsuits might be a start or maybe official complaints filed for sexual assault, especially on behalf of children.

But what may negate that sort of thing is that travelers knowingly, which might imply that they approvingly enter that system with its inherent abuse in order to travel.

TSA lines are earily similar to pre boarding trains to the death camps of the Holocaust era.

Refusing to go through TSA is saying you have something to hide in their minds?

“The airline industry will be just one more American business that obammy and his henchmen will destroy.”

Six months of Barry’s TSA groping the American public will result in dwindling profits for the airlines. At that point Barry will be able to stage another Federal Government takeover of another industry. The country is being dismantled by lefty hacks.

also will not be permitted to simply leave the airport.

Does this not scream of 'it's NOT about security/terrorism'? It's about control - being held hostage!

This can't wait until elected officials scream from the rooftops - which should have been the first day, we must do something.

Quiet please. If Obama finds that out he will start ordering his TSA infidels to start doing cavity searches. That will go over don't you think?!
