I no longer watch the show because the popularity of contestants was too much of a factor in deciding the winner. Even when I did watch the show I never called in because of my distaste for that aspect of picking a winner. If the show ever became one based solely on talent, I would gladly start watching again. One reason why I am a conservative is that I believe in the pursuit of excellence and judging individuals solely on merit.
