Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) denounced the Bush family as "blue bloods" in an interview posted Wednesday and remarked that a mentality like theirs helped to cause the economic downturn.
Her comment came in response to a statement made by former first lady Barbara Bush during an interview with CNN's Larry King earlier this week. Asked for her take on Palin, Bush told King: "I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."
Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham followed up with Palin, asking if she thought Bush's comment had been planned ahead of time. Palin had this to say:

I wonder why Barbara Bush is worrying her “beautiful mind” over such things?
How much money have you raised for your candidate? Whomever that is. Have you had 30,000,000 people show up to hear your inane comments? When you do come back and tell us about it.
Dictionary definition of ‘blue blood’: an aristocrat, noble, or member of a socially prominent family.
Many people believe that the old-timers in Washington want to exclude ideas and individuals that would jostle them to positions of less significance.
If the Bushes aren’t old timers then what are they? Sarah was asked about Barbara’s remarks. Her answer makes total sense and she also spoke of her affection for them.
“and she sounds stupid on occasions like this.”
Not to a conservative.
This is something every American citizen needs to hear and understand.
The broken RINO wing of the Republican party is just as guilty as the Democrats for the destruction of the USA, and for the theft of residual wealth away from the taxpaying, productive citizens.
oh be REAL, it was an insult, a back-of-the-hand way of saying that Sarah Palin should neither run nor be nominated.
Whether SP should respond to it is a separate issue; the remark was denigrating, demeaning, and insulting .... and intended to be so.
Can you name another time in history when a former “First Lady” of the same party has told national media on TV that A leading if not THE leading possible candidate for the party’s next nomination should not even be in consideration? It’s contemptible (for BB).
If one is a former “First Lady” who does not (rightly) want to get into politicking, a general statement to the effect that SP is obviously one of the contenders would be sufficient.
The Bushes are SO Last Dynasty.
She offends exactly WHAT miniscule percentage of the populace by dissing these people?
How in the world does anyone but the voters determine who wins primaries?
How does that happen?
I think this is one of the most destructive myths/excuses out there. WE vote in the primaries. It is and always has been up to US to coalesce around the “right” candidate and work to get him or her nominated and elected.
Sometimes WE do a good job at that and sometimes WE don’t. If the “establishment” did somehow pick our candidate, it’s only because we sat on our butts and let them. They can’t force someone on us.
In this last election, we’ve seen that the grassroots can find, vet, fund, run and elect candidates. Nothing was stopping us from doing that in 2008. The movement just wasn’t there, that’s all. It wasn’t that the movement was there and it was somehow hogtied while some mythical “They” founds ways to force people to vote for a particular candidate.
You are right the Bush’s generally stay out of the muck...there is a plan here.
My bet is that their wish is :
Romney/JebBush
Think about it. They know Jeb and never win the Pres on his own withe the Bush fatigue from both sides.
I’d say 75/25 that’s the plan.
Wouldn’t we “get Romney” only if a whole bunch of people vote for him in several different states?
Roger that, Sarge.
Definitely agree on the thin skin. It’s a “test” by critics. In the Seventies, I dated a gal from Oxford, Mississippi, who would respond to perceived insults or just plain dumbness with, “Isn’t that special?”
It seemed to be her polite catch-all phrase for:
“WTF?!”
“Drop dead!”
“Jack-ass retard”
Because the officeholders simply reflect the base.
And it is the base who cannot stand up to the Democrats, Rinos, the MSM, Hollywood war room they claim to despise...when the chips are down, they just cannot bring themselves to defend their warriors in a battle...wounded ones usually get shot...and replaced with a shiny new one that hasn't a scratch because they have eschewed the war entirely.
Therefore, who do we send to Congress and the Presidency?
The ones who refuse to fight.
And then we complain...wash, rinse, repeat.
Why would she be offended by that? Bush is wishing her happiness.
Are you proud of your ignorance or are you just in denial? Barbara Bush was being passive-aggressive in her devilishly clever little comment.
They either shoot with everything they've got or STFU. I prefer they choose the latter. It would be in their best interest, too. I agree. The 2010 elections, with TEA Party people and Sarah Palin driving nationwide Republican (conservative Republican) gains of more than 700 offices, was a big black eye to the RINOs as much as to the Democrats.
Even with the RINOs actively working with the Democrats against the conservatives, We the People pulled off the greatest conservative win ever.
“I really think that shes alone, just like what had happened in Alaska after her VP stint in 2009.”
Yes, Sarah took a lot of abuse from the media, more than I’ve ever seen thrown at anyone, including Reagan, or even Newt after 94. But Sarah was never alone. If you think that, you obviously haven’t been paying attention to the crowds she attracts. My comment had nothing to do with media.
“I really think that the Republican Party has raped her and her family. They or We just used her. Too bad.”
Sarah got a severe lesson in establishment politics from the elite guard of the GOP halls of power, but before you mope off, stricken with grief over how “We” have abandoned her, look at what Sarah has accomplished since her VP run, and look at her supporters in the Tea Party movement. She ain’t done half bad. Even if she doesn’t become our next president, she is a dominant force for conservatism and the Republican Party, without being an insider. That ain’t easy. Don’t pity poor Sarah. Pity poor momma Bush who will never see her favorite son become president.
Now, if you will get that knee under control, and look at my comment, you will see that it isn’t really an admonishment to Sarah. I do, however, think that as Sarah grooms and refines herself for a presidential candidacy, she will have to depend on some of us, like you, to respond to dirty hits that she needs to let slide off or her. She will in fact have her hands full with a hostile, corrupt media. But she is getting in shape to handle the “bastards.” Concentrate more on rebuking her enemies, not her friends.
Good Lord, how can you say Barbara Bush doesn’t have a clue about politics, in particular, presidential politics?
Disagree with her, no problem. But, IMO, BB has seen, heard, done, discussed and lived more about politics in this nation than most of us.
Well since they have adopted Bill Clinton, what makes you thing they won't support their new daughter in law? Romney may just be a place holder.
I’m sure Sarah is tired of what has been said about her in the media for a couple of years now. Her whole family is rightfully fed up with it.
