Palin rebukes Barbara Bush, family as 'blue bloods' after remark

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) denounced the Bush family as "blue bloods" in an interview posted Wednesday and remarked that a mentality like theirs helped to cause the economic downturn.

Her comment came in response to a statement made by former first lady Barbara Bush during an interview with CNN's Larry King earlier this week. Asked for her take on Palin, Bush told King: "I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham followed up with Palin, asking if she thought Bush's comment had been planned ahead of time. Palin had this to say:

It appears to me that our Presidents are hand picked by some in power in the darkness - doesn’t matter if they are Democrat or Republican - someone calls the play.

Romney is the play.

Reagan was not.

Let’s hope someone other than Romney can win.

That’s how I see it based on the new information/development on this issue.

But I can promise you this:

I’LL NEVER VOTE FOR ROMNEY OR HUCK!

And I’m not alone even if that means Obama’s 2nd term.

After November’s win, I now agree with Beck’s viewpoint much much earlier. This nation needs to suffer liberalism and learn the havoc that it truly creates, before real atonement, purification and healing begin.

Aren’t we ALL trying to pick winners and losers? I don’t see what the big deal is that one woman, Barbara Bush, has an opinion on who she’d like to see be President.

I have an opinion on that and you do too. And I expect we’re all trying to persuade people to our point of view. If that’s “picking winners and losers,” so be it. Ain’t a darn thing wrong with it.

Grandma Bush has always been a hard taskmaster, she probably saw that ad and was insulted because she thought that Palin had too flippant of an attitude. Palin got her spanking from the Grizzled Momma. LOL

The Bush’s are bluebloods. That part is very true.

I think everyone is going a little overboard and making more of the exchange between these gals than required.

“Disagree with her, no problem. But, IMO, BB has seen, heard, done, discussed and lived more about politics in this nation than most of us.”

Yeah, BB once was elected Treasure of the Austin Home and Garden Club and founded the “Best Pearls Society”

She is an abortion supporting former first “lady”. That’s all. She defends liberalism and her boys and despises conservatives.

Every American citizen needs to know that these RINO scumbags are as guilty as the Democrats for our economic disaster. - Agreed. - I prefer the word scumbags as I don't have a problem with the term blue bloods and country clubs once the Bushes Clintons Obamas etc.. at my country club are where they belong, washing the cars, cleaning the toilets and mucking out the polo stables.

Then you are not a real conservative and still supports the so called elite politicians. It is way past time for someone to tell the Old Guard that she or he is wrong. Mrs. Bush is wrong and needed to be called on it. I don’t care how old she is. If a man had said that, would people still complain about not responding to what was said. She should have kept her nose out of it. She endorses losers like saying Clinton is like a son and many others.

I didn’t know Free Republic had become such a home for Blue Bloods (BB’s).

No silly, this is a Tokyo Rove boot camp thread.

Yes, Barbara is known for her directness. I actually thought it was a great way for her to convey her opinion that Palin should not run in 2012. She got her views out there loud and clear. But I also agree that it wasn’t all that gracious.

That said, that’s why a really gracious response by Palin would have stuck a fork in it.

The Bushes are SO Last Dynasty.

She offends exactly WHAT miniscule percentage of the populace by dissing these people?

The RINOs make up less than five percent of the Republican vote, less than Black voters make up the Democrat Party vote, by half.

By distancing herself from the small nasty RINO crowd, Sarah picks up Independents by the gazillion, probably well over 60% of that very large bunch.

Thin skinned is the new Orwellian rap for the unwashed who push back on their betters.

1)A former First Lady (unprovoked) commands you to stay in your home State and shut up.

2)When you object...and tell her that all Americans are free to speak their minds and run for the Presidency..not just Blue Bloods...you are thin-skinned.

3)Message sent; you should be in fear of the Blue Bloods if you fight back...because they always win in the end.

I immediately thought of the show “Blue Bloods” with Tom Sellack

Sounded more like "You got one bullet in that shooter, make the best of it."

I can agree to disagree with you on this.

Still, I was looking at it as what Barbara actually intended to convey: her opinion that Palin should not run for President.

I don’t see expressing the opinion (whether one agrees with it or not) that a certain person should not run for President as a pot shot.

I didn’t take it any other way, but I agree with your point. And, as I’ve said elsewhere, it wasn’t the most gracious comment Barbara Bush has ever made. But I didn’t see it as a personal insult. To me, it was simply an expression of Bush’s presidential preference.

Where I’m from, the expression “he ought to stay home” simply means that whatever it is he was/is leaving home to do is either bad news, or he’s not up to it, or there’s someone else I think could do it better. I took it as the latter.

I don't have the links and proof to debate you point by point so all I can say is that my own experience is that you can try to start a grass roots campaign but you need money. But if you have money (Ross Perot) you need a message. If you have a message (Duncan Hunter) you need name recognition. If you have name recognition (John McCain)you need the trust of the American people. Or, you can throw all of those out (except for money) and just go for lucky timing and political connections (Barack 0bama.)

Note that neither you nor I nor your incredibly qualified, high integrity neighbor are likely to have these ingredients in the proper quantities to even get nominated much less elected. We do NOT have a merit system, we have a POLITICAL system.

I tend to believe that if Sarah decides to run it is because she sees that she actually does have the right combination of ingredients to make it all the way through the competition. I trust her judgment on this and so I would vote for her.

But since this is only my opinion I must advisedly say that I think you have a bit too rosy view of the process while saying that mine isn't so cynical that I don't think that Good People can't break through at times.

But the days of "From Log Cabin To The White House" are pretty much over, I think. Maybe for the good. We need a fairly sophisticated POTUS to run things well. We don't have one now and look at us.

I'm open to examples of where I'm wrong. :0)

More than likely, the “thin-skinned” meme is just a talking point that romney has sent out to his well-paid minions who troll the web.
