I want Cuccinelli to stay right where he is. I’d be happy with Allen, but he’s too damaged by his weak response to the macaca incident. The Post is going to beat him with that stick if ever he runs for so much as the school board. I’ll probably support Marshall, unless he wants to be governor after McDonnell.

I don’t now if the Dems have decided. Typically the incumbent gets to decide. So if Webb runs, I’d guess it’s a primary.

I’ve made a personal pledge not to fight the macaca battle again on FR. But, IMHO while Allen bears the ultimate responsibility, it has been exposed for the witch hunt that it was.

More to the point, I think the electorate will realize that macaca wasn’t worth giving us Jim Webb.

Agreed on all your points. From what I remember about the 2006 Senate race is that Allen had a whole new team, he didn’t stick with “kitchen cabinet” that helped him win elections for Gov and the 2000 Senate race. He traded his cabinet for Washington insider hacks that not only gave him poor advice, but damaged his reputation among many Virginia conservatives.

I want KC where he is, for another term if possible. I know he’d be a great Governor but in reality he has much more power and influence as State AG. The PWC conservatives, in particular Bob Marshall, are fantastic. Marshall lost the primary to Gilmore by the mere votes, it was a lost opportunity for the RPV and conservatives across the state. My inclination would be to back Marshall for 2012 against Webb, he’d shred him in a debate.

Northern Virginia doesn't care. I wish there were a way to keep carpetbaggers from voting in state elections, at least for five years or so.

I see the mentioning of Bob Marshall’s name, but Marshall’s big problem is one of age, especially in going for the Senate, he’d be just shy of 69 at the start of the 2013 session, a little too old to be embarking on a career in that body (and let’s face it, nobody runs just for a single term in the Senate, since it makes you an instant lame duck and powerless backbencher).

I would assume the Tea Party would prefer Cuccinelli in a primary. Bob Marshall or Corey Stewart would garner big support from the Tea Party as well. All three of them would make excellent Senate candidates.

Obviously I don’t speak for the Tea Party, just my opinion.

Point taken on the age, but he is a conservative stalwart. He’d have a bigger impact and worker twice as hard as just about anyone. Bob Marshall gets it.

Cooch is *NOT* running.

Tea Party leaders will be meeting next month to determine who they should rally behind as the anti-Allen (and anti-Bolling in 2013.)

“I don’t think that Webb runs again”

I agree, he’s already xometimes voting on important issues against the Ds.

I think the only thing that could keep him in the game would be if Allen were to be chosen to run.
