I'd like to see a GOP primary. Makes the candidates clearly state their position on the issues, and also shows if they are ready for a general election. Allen, after the terribel campaing he ran last time, has to show that he's still got game.

I don't think that Webb runs again. Here's why. He's never liked campaigning, and the endless fund raising associated with it. He hasn't done much of it..his war chest is small. At best, it'd be a difficult campaign, and even if he manages to win, he'd more than likely be in the minority in the Senate, and the Dem caucus after 2012 will be much more liberal. He won't feel comfortable.

So, if he decided NOT to run, you're probably lookign at a Dem primary..which will force the Dem candidates further to the left, thus making it far more likely that the GOP picks up the seat.

GOP has already opted for a primary, not a convention.

If Webb doesn’t run, others being mentioned are Tim Kaine and Tom Perriello.

“I don’t think that Webb runs again”

I agree, he’s already xometimes voting on important issues against the Ds.

I think the only thing that could keep him in the game would be if Allen were to be chosen to run.
