~ EXCERPT ~

DETROIT – Detroit police say a 20-year-old Burger King employee who was arguing with a customer punched the 67-year-old man, who fell and later died.

Police spokeswoman Yvette Walker says the older man was reportedly causing a disturbance Thursday afternoon at the restaurant on the city's east side, tried to hit the employee and the employee swung back. WJBK-TV reports police say the punch may have caused the elderly man to choke on his dentures.

Ah, Detriot.

What the whole country would look like if the unions ran everything.

Why do I have a problem believing the 67 yo with dentures decided to take a punch at some 20yo? Maybe it is just me but that does not ring right to me.

Sad, but if you take a poke at someone they might just return the favor.

About 15 years ago when my dad who was about 75 layed into some guy, probably about 30.
After about the 5th time he into my dad's foursome my dad decided it was time to hit the ball back to him. The guy raced up and told my dad he was to teach him a lesson. My dad did not wait for his lesson. He gave the guy one. My dad is still the talk of the golf course.

"A verbal argument occurred,"

As opposed to a written argument, I guess.

Ofcourse, you are not hearing the dead guy’s side of the story so it is kind of difficult to make a decison on the twenty something’s story of self defense.

If the old guy had broken into the store, I would not doubt the kid’s story of self defense. But if it is a typical street gutter matter, I would not assume the twenty something was not causing trouble.

You take your victim as you find him. BK is in a heap of trouble now, and I agree, that BK would try pass the story of the employee. But witnesses should resolve that, hopefully.

I’d assume there are witnesses.

Sometimes old guys can get violent, too. You aren’t automatically good because you wear dentures.

But I don’t know. I’d take the witnesses’ version of the story.
