Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci's crimes 'known to the West'
The Australian ^ | December 18, 2010 | The Times

Posted on 12/17/2010 6:22:49 AM PST by Ravnagora

WESTERN leaders have been accused of turning a blind eye to murders, drug running and organ trafficking in Kosovo.

The West elevated a man it knew to be a criminal boss to the rank of European statesman.

Although Western intelligence agencies warned that Hashim Thaci ran an organised crime network in the late 1990s, Western political leaders backed his Kosovo Liberation Army, according to a report published by the Council of Europe.

The report, adopted unanimously by the council's 47 member states, will add to pressure for an independent criminal inquiry into Mr Thaci, now Kosovo's Prime Minister. It also places an embarrassing spotlight on the actions of the NATO members who intervened in Kosovo in 1999 as the country engaged in a war of independence with Slobodan Milosevic's Serbia.

Dick Marty, the Swiss senator who was the council's rapporteur for Kosovo, said the global community had shown a lack of determination to investigate the KLA. Without a witness protection scheme, the criminal rulers would never be brought to book, he said.

"What shocked me is that most of the facts illustrated in this report were known to numerous organisations, which until now have remained silent," Mr Marty said at a press conference.

Wow you guys are funny.
Yeah you got me before the military did send me there we have all been brainwashed 24/7.
Our mission shoot as much serbs as you can.
Steal what you can it´s time for revenge!!!

I mean get real i allready said that nobody (not even the soldiers) gave a rats ass about the kosovo.
As if i would have cared who owns it now?
(and as far as my government goes they are interested in a somehow safe Kosovo for only one reason so Austria can deport the refugees back there! This is all they have interesst send the people BACK and not to occupy it).

So sorry to disturb your daydreams about a German-Austrian-Mulsim?????? conspiration.
But reality is i was in the army my country did send me there. FULL STOP!
My main job was sitting behind “my” 12,7 (cal.50 machine gun) “turret” in an pandur APC to give fire support if needed. This or when we had no roadblock all we did was patroling the area. AGAIN FULL STOP!
This is all i cared (and believe it or not the other soldiers did just have as “much” political interesst in the situation there like me.
I mean get real i was soldier and not a god damn politican.
But ok never let reality get into your way!
Keep predending the serbs have be saints and the BAD BAD EVIL World just picket them for nothing if it helps.
This will not bring you back the kosovo anyway but if it helps you ok...
I mean who cares!
(At least i don´t if its for me you can have it as long as every other (just pleas don´t start to slaughter inocent people again). this has never and will never be important for me)
end of story!
So much for your conspiration theory.
And i guarantee you most people here think the same.
I mean serious most people would not be able to find the Kosovo on a blank map nor do they care. but ok i admit WE ALL want to steal it?????
I mean get real!

Did I mention I had a few friends there working for the US government as translators and friends who served there as well? All talked about the blatant persecution of Serbs and the deplorable living conditions they were in while NATO bureaucrats ignored them.

We have an FR member here that was in Kosovo prior to the bombing who witnessed the blatant attempts to fabricate conflicts in order to contrive a reason to intervene.

What’s your point?

1991 (called the 10 days war) serbian troops did attack slowenia (they made it till the Austrian border “You know Austria borders slowenia). Bevore they have been “driven” back.
But ok i guess in your oppinion maybe this is a lie too.
I guess Austria deployed 10.000 soldiers (and killed 2 serbian soldiers because they once returned fire when some of their artillery shells started to impact a few meters on “our” side of the border) on the slowenian border just for fun.

does this now make me one of those evil occupiers who just hates the serbs?) some years ago?

Let's put it this way.
I did seven years during Vietnam. 15 months in country and two 18 month tours off shore & closely involved. Had lots of issues with the "how" but never doubted the "why".
As I've said before in this forum; had I been in the Army when you were in the Army, and when some of my best service friends were involved as civilian contractors, and I'd received orders to where you went, I'd have refused and taken the CM that followed.
It's also pretty clear that you simply don't like Serbs very much. Those "little wars", and centuries of "little wars" in that region, weren't Serbian creations alone, that's why "Balkanization" translates to "an unstable collection of small states".
For practical purposes the Kosovo goat-roping was (a) Muslim versus Christian, (b) Former Nazi allies versus an imperfect state whose people rescued a pot load of downed allied fliers from those same Nazi allies, (c) the public and painful dissolution of an artificially united Yugoslavia, and (d) a "little war" that we, the USA and NATO, had no (bleeping) business getting into.
Your argument sounds more like resentment of non Serbian immigrants than an indictment of the Serbs.

So I guess the proper answer would be "maybe"...but that's up to you and those others who enabled Clinton, Germany, and (although you omitted them) Albania.

You are correct the bombing of serbia was indeed a “European” idea! I never said something different.( btw there exists no regret here for doing this!)
Clinton was against this( at least it was no secret that he wanted the US to stay out)! But the europeans wanted to use nato for the bombing. So clinton was forced to agree on the bombing. This or Nato would have been dismanteled (Not a US interesst).
Just for example the first bombs dropped on Serbia where from spanish (not US) F16.
The bombing of serbia was definitely a war “EUROPE” wanted to be fought. I never said something different.

Not even close to being correct.

Slovenian militia attacked an unarmed JNA barracks, you know what the JNA is correct? It was all over the news so please pay attention.

Once you figure that one out, why don’t you research who was in charge of the JNA.

(they made it till the Austrian border “You know Austria borders slowenia)

Unless the Croatians were complicit in this exercise, Serbia attacking Slovenia was impossible. ("You know Serbia does not border Slovenia")

Any other nonsense you wish to produce?

You don't even seem to know the difference between "a Yugoslav" and "a Serb".

When Slovenia declared independence 6/25/91, the President of Yugoslavia was Sejdo Bajramovic, a Kosovo Roma and immediately after that (6/30/91) it was Stjepan Mesic -- a Croat who later became the Prime Minister & eventually President of Croatia. The Army in 1991 was the JNA -- the Yugoslav National Army -- not some "Army of Serbia".

You just as well may have been shooting at a Croat, Bosnian Muslim, or a Slovene, as you were at "a Serb".

Kind of makes one wonder the state of education in Austria, the underbelly of Germany.

Actually I think that it's more like ALL the people south of the Austrian border are simply "those Slavs that we used to rule" -- and "Serbs" have only differentiated themselves from that group by being Austria and Germany's eternal pain in the ass in effecting that rule -- costing them two World Wars.

It never once occurs to them (or even to the rest of the West) that they don't belong in the Balkans. It's not their home or their land. AndDrang Nach Osten will never bring them pride or profit, but rather only cause them more misery.

Actually, Austrians got to feel a little "Muslim love" recently. They may have to give up yodeling in the vicinity of Muslims or be forced to pay a whopping fine!
