Rand Paul: Tea Party Candidate or Leftist Machine Darling?

Kentucky, birthplace of both Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, has selected Rand Paul to be her next United States Senator. Certainly, if Lincoln and Davis were alive today, Lincoln’s choice would have been either of the decidedly conservative, pro-14th amendment candidates Trey Grayson or Bill Johnson, while Davis would have chosen Paul, the “states rights” candidate whose supporters often refer to Lincoln as a “war criminal” and share attitudes consistent with the racism of the Left. Ron Paul supporter Jack Hunter characterizes Rand as “Senator Tea Party“. The Leftist TIME Magazine says Paul is “the movement’s flag bearer in Kentucky“. Today at The Guardian, we hear that Paul is truly a friend of the Left by none other than Michael Tracey, symbol of the Death of Manliness, bosom buddy of pro-pedophile Alex Knepper and apologist for same. Virtually nowhere outside Kentucky is it disputed that Rand Paul was “the Tea Party candidate”, but how could a Tea Party candidate be such a looney leftist, garnering even the love of the likes of schoolgirl Michael Tracey? The answer is that Rand Paul never really was the Tea Party candidate at all but was pushed to power in large part by an out-of-state Leftist machine very much appreciated by Tracey, et al.

Tracey notes that Rand Paul is a “maverick in the making” who will prove to be an “unexpected ally” of “the Left“.

Those on the left who reflexively conflate the Paul brand of libertarianism – embodied most robustly by his father Ron – with the aims of cynical theocrats like Sarah Palin or Jim DeMint not only abdicate any pretence of intellectual responsibility; they deprive themselves of a powerful ally.

I thought he was a self-styled man of the right? I guess there is a lot of space between renouncing violent Communism and the Black Panther Party and actually growing all the way up to be a traditional conservative. I was not aware that he had aborted his journey along the way.

Horowitz often does left. He was openly pushing hard for Rinos not so long ago.

His central policy position is protecting Israel with the US military and foreign aid and keeping Christians supporting Israel but out of power and influence in the GOP. He does not like Christians being in the Republican party but he has to put up with them for the power they offer in protecting Israel. He's a bigot when it comes to the goy in that he expects Christians to join him in protecting Israel, but he really does not respect them as people, at all. He is a user and an abuser.

Palin is a cultural Christian; an American-American, and I am not surprised he hates her but she is supposed to march to his orders in supporting him and fellow Jews. The double standard is pretty disgusting and ignorant.

I had a nasty exchange with him in the early nineties concerning his bigotry. He was dissing Shaffley as if she were a bumpkin Christian in an article and I reminded him that she (a lawyer) successfully fought off the communists while he was still in red diapers and that he should learn to recognize and respect those conservatives who cut the path he now walks.

Lincoln would have chosen anyone that guaranteed the death of states rights. Slavery was used as an “issue” to destroy a linchpin of this countries strength. Power from the people to the states and last to the federal dumpster.

From my vantage point here in PA, as I watched what went on in KY and heard what the young Paul said during the campaign, I concluded that he is a slick-talking BS artist after the pattern of Slick Willie! I never ever heard him take a STAND on any issue; but he equivocated on everything. Reminded me of “Mr. Pliable” in PILGRIM’S PROGRESS.

Lisa, Trey Grayson is nowhere near “decidedly conservative.” You know quite well that Grayson is a former Democrat who supported Bill Clinton in 1992.

Rand Paul...is kooky enough to serve as a useful marketing tool for the Left to cast him as “the Tea Party’s crazed kingpin“, but very much on board with the Left on a number of issues that they hold dear. As Tracey notes, Paul could prove to be more of an ally to the Left than he would be to Palin, Demint and other conservatives who backed him.

This is hardly an unexpected or original view. In fact, very predictable, as we followed Rand Paul's horrifying ascendance here on FR. Just use the keyword.
