Nope! I may be the consumate optimist...but I firmly believe that all it means is that every last gay in the military now will lose his job! The poster child of Democrat legislation that 'creates unemployment'! ALL Democrat legislation now on the books has created unemployment! We need to start a pool on what century the Dims will notice!
Another FReeper brought that up. Said they will join to get HIV treatment free. Does/will the Armed Forces test for HIV before enlisting? And, is that something that would disqualify them?
....and if I'm wrong...a readied force will become a readied farce!
Kongress is about to learn the hard way about ‘the laugh test’!

I have lived too long as of today.
Not to mention non-active duty, same sex domestic partners, or faux spouses of the active duty gays.
These folks will have the same benefits, medical, PX and Commisary priveleges, moving expenses, housing, to name just a few.
Obama has already imposed this on OPM.
This could end up being much worse though. What is worse than giving a Sodomite a college education so that they can just out themselves at their convenience, is the Sodomite who stays and undermines the military as an officer. If this hasn't already happened, it will surely increase as Sodomites as a "movement" are never content with the status quo and are always looking to amp up their perversion and destruction of traditional values.
Hazing will be interesting now, because even if the Sodomite were to receive the same treatment as others, to make a name for themselves, they could declare a hate crime was committed and regular roughhousing will turn into a criminal record and days in the brig. The Sodomites should have a legitimate fear of fratricide on deployment out in the wild, this fear might become institutionalized and thus open Sodomy by policy, gets the pervert off the front-line and in the safe zones. Imagine a gay SEAL who never gets into combat because policies against hypothetical fratricide keeps him in the office not in the field. This ought to go over real well with the rest.
One thing is for sure, the Line-crossing ceremonies will surely have more competitively dressed contestants at King Neptune's court.
sez it all.....the posterchildren of ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’!!! Carter and Carter 2.0
ahhh...a silver lining! the next gay layoff will not have to say 'h0norable'
Why would we want to imitate the ridiculously weak, cowardly militaries in other countries, anyway?
In Afghanistan, the German troops are afraid of the dark. It is their official poicy — they will not go out at night.
Good points.
For the record - I believe that the US Government should only recognize heterosexual marriage (and their legal children) as a Member of Household.
Here’s a question - How much time will drill instructors and military commanders have to spend learning how to deal with sexual orientation issues? What makes our military so good is the training. start cutting into that, and your cut into the effectiveness of our military.
I discriminate against homosexuals as often as I find them.
Yep, they just sealed their fate! Now when they realize that they can’t cut it, they will be forced to complete their contracts!
Good'n
When is payback not a bitch? When it's 2 bitches ... Pa-Bach (2012)
You are wrong. He does give two hoots in Hell about the US military - this is the first... wait for the second...
Remember that Civilian National Security Army as well-funded and equipped as the (present US military)? Were do you imagine the money and equipment will come from, given they can't afford to buy the stuff twice?
This will end badly.
Ain't it the truth!
The 'laugh test' comes to mind so often that it ain't even funny any more!...hence the lawyer welfare plan!
I constantly keep in mind something I read once, “Military justice is to justice as military music is to music.” Having served one hitch in the Navy I have an idea of what that means. It will be interesting to see what military justice is served up in cases such as you suggest.
