Demographics are much different this time. Instead of immigrants who want to assimilate, we instead have hyphenated Americans in which ethic pride/tribalism trumps all and things like freedom, liberty and the Constitution are just meaningless words.

Why are Indian, Korean and other immigrant business people trapped in the Democratic party?
The GOP outreach to minorities is dismal. Most immigrants have more in common with the values of FReepers than DUers. We lose them out of laziness.
