2 robbers hold 40 Nashville restaurant customers at gunpoint

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two men walked into a packed east Nashville restaurant and robbed it at gunpoint, forcing 40 people to the ground.

Metro police said around 11 p.m. Wednesday, two men with what looked like pantyhose over their heads walked into the Holland House on West Eastland Avenue.

One of the suspects was holding a sawed off shotgun and the other had a handgun.

About 40 customers were forced onto the floor.

"When you have someone willing to come in and try and control 30 to 40 people in any type of setting, obviously there's a propensity for violence in those acts," Metro Police Capt. Chris Taylor said. "Just if by chance if they make a mistake, have their finger on the trigger and it goes off, the chances of somebody getting hurt are 10 fold."

The men stole some of the customers' items but focused mainly on the restaurant's money.

"The first thing that came to mind was, ‘Are my neighbors OK, was my staff OK.' Thankfully everyone was," owner of Holland House Terrell Raley said.

Look for two men with pantyhose on their heads. Can't be too many like that.

Couple of hosers should stick out like sore thumbs in Nashville, eh?

Yep. Call 911 and the cops are only minutes away just seconds before the criminals shoot you. - We ate lunch at a little country grocery store out in the boonies where they cook catfish and frog legs. The crowd in there looked like they were packing, and there was a big dog and a mean looking cat on the front porch. There were Moon Pies on the shelf in case we wanted dessert.

The one perp will get more time for possessing a sawed off shotgun than the armed robbery.

Is it a bar or all night diner (Denny’s, IHOP etc ...) sort of place ?

Any signs on the doors that ban guns on the premises ?

Merry New Year !!

Stay safe !

My son works in this place luckily he was not there the night of the robbery. This was apparently the 3rd robbery in the area in a 24 hrs time period most likely crackheads on a spree.
Time for him to find a new job.

I wouldn’t argue about that but Nashville is becoming more like Beirut every day since Mayor Karl Dean has brought hordes of muslims into Nashville.

The gunmen were wearing pantyhose over their faces during the robbery, said police. One of the men was armed with what was described as a sawed-off shotgun, and the other had a pistol, police said. Both gunmen were described as black, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

The suspect carrying the pistol had a red and green tattoo of a snake on his right wrist, police said.

The restaurant had surveillance cameras, and officers said they plan to review the video footage from the cameras. No one was hurt in the incident.

The same robbers may be responsible for other hold ups at a Dollar General on Gallatin Road Dec. 20, a Dollar General robbery Dec. 24 on Branch Street and the Pied Piper restaurant on Riverside Drive on Tuesday night, said Metro police Detective Danny Driskell.

How far are you from Marche? It looks pretty close to Holland House on the map.

I’ll be sure to be packing if I stop in for lunch when passing through henceforth.

I have had several marine, ranger, and civilian martial arts buddies whom I have sparred with knife fighting. The really fun sparring is with sharpies and white t-shirts, but we also used dull edged aluminum practice “knives,” which can HURT. Let’s just say two perps who got within 3 feet of each other wouldn’t last long against any of these guys armed with a 3 inch folder. Not unless they were more skilled than the average thug or crackhead.

Once I got up to speed, more than half of our sharpie fights ended with “gotcha,” “yup, look down, gotcha too.” Knives can be wicked fast. Exception was an instructor - almost never got a good strike on him.

PS Most good knife hits will lead to nearly instant shock with rapid bleed out. More so than many gun shot wounds. There’s just something about a deep cut that freaks the body out. Even people under general anesthetic spike BP and heart rate in surgery.

I’ve gotten so accustomed to carrying, when I went to the ‘Justice Center’ (court records building) yesterday, I almost tried to roll in while still armed! ... Did have a nice conversation witht he Sheriff’s Dept. Deputy at the entry. He was wearin’ a hi cap Glosk in .45. We shoot at the same private range so I was pleasantly surprised to see he had upgraded to .45 from 9mm.

I pack combat tupperware myself for EDC. Comfy and not hard on the clothes and upholstery. I carry a Guncrafters Ind Glock 20/21 slide conversion in 50GI caliber. 3 spare mags.

Good reliable , controllable big bore pistola. Expensive to shoot IDPA with yet I have the dies and it works very well for me. Hits hard.

Stay safe !

Maybe the musician thing will start paying soon. The management at the retaurant is very good about letting its musician employees take off when they need to for weeks at a time which is a big help. One of the guys from the Sing Off TV show also works there.

The only way they could make the sign worse is if they added, “ Customers known to carry large amounts of cash”. Yeah, no problem, I’ll avoid ‘em...

Maybe they got some ninjas workin’ the hibachi.

Or maybe their customers are mostly liberals... Liberals who feel if they're 'non-offensive' - they're safer.

Same groupthink that 'feels' if we don't have weapons, a military, or police officers that the bad guys will give up, destroy their weapons, and pick flowers.

It's sweet - something like how a 14 year old girl might feel... not safe - not sane - but sweet.
