Healthcare repeal bill coming before Obama's annual address By Bridget Johnson - 01/02/11 09:17 AM ET

The incoming chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee said Sunday that Republicans will bring up a healthcare repeal measure before President Obama even delivers his State of the Union address this month.

"I think there wil be a significant number of Democrats who will join us," Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) said on "Fox News Sunday."

Upton said that leaders are counting on Democrats who voted against the massive healthcare reform package to do so again, coupled with greater GOP numbers.

"I don't think we're going to be that far off from having the votes to override a veto," he said.

Upton said that even if repeal faces hurdles, House action will "put enormous pressure on the Senate to do the same thing."

After that, Upton said, House Republicans will work on chipping away the healthcare bill piece by piece, such as the 1099 requirements and individual mandates.

Upton also said that the Stupak language -- an executive order from Obama to ensure that public dollars wouldn't be used to fund abortions -- will be taken up early as a separate bill.

I agree, defund as much of it as possible.

A bill will never reach his desk. It takes one liberal rat in the senate to filibuster it, and they will. House will overwhelmingly pass, senate will do nothing (even though they may have a majority to pass it with quite a few rates up for re-election). Then the house will defund the bill.

All indications are that the Republican Congress, overall, is willing to sell its soul to the devil for power. If so, they will have become a domestic enemy of the Constitution, and therefore proper targets of Oathkeepers.

Wow. There's a real positive, can-do attitude. How about we wait until they actually take the oath before we start castigating them?

More importantly, let's see if they actually honor their words, instead of just speaking them.

It won't take long to tell if a person is going to honor his words with actions.

And I won't wait long to castigate them.

Not if the democrats get their new rules , no fillibuster. These fools have no idea how they will be the biggest losers in the new rules. Obamacare repeal will be easy. If Tea Party republicans win big in 2012 , these new rules will be our best friend...lol

I see this as an instance of counting the chickens before they’ve hatched. I don’t doubt the honorable intentions and the testicular fortitude of persons like Marcia Blackburn, Thad McCotter and Michele Bachmann in the House and Jim deMint, Jeff Sessions and Marco Rubio in the Senate, but I’m not so naive as to believe that they will not be undermined by weasels like Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell.

This is war. I believe it’s unwise to disclose to the enemy - yes, enemy - how one plans to defeat them. I want to say, “Surely, they know why they experienced the deluge on Nov. 2.” But the truth is, these people are Dumbcrap, and it is folly to assume that they learn from experience. And we have long known that they do not give a large mammals posterior what we think or want. If they don’t know, why avert them?

I’d like to see them get rid of the section that creates and funds Obama’s civilian army under the guise of healthcare.

"Do you really expect Obama to sign a a repeal of Obamacare? The best we can hope for is for repeal bills to be sent to his desk repeatedly forcing him to veto each one and forcing democrats to go on record supporting Obamacare thereby sending them to their doom in 12."

Harry Reid controls the legislative agenda of the Senate.

A standalone repeal bill will NOT see the floor of the Senate for the next two years, that's certain.

However, a Federal Budget that show zero money for it's enactment MUST be addressed by the Senate.

Oh this is too good. Congress is already standing up to the Dear Leader. Each time Obama goes on another vacation, he undermines his policies all the more.

“Schedule a vote on it once a month, EVERY month.”

ANd then an impeachment proceeding. Either way, blacks will riot, even if he is reelected since blacks won’t want Obaam to leave EVER.

Despicable Harry won’t have much to legislate when the House GOP chooses not to fund anything. Harry Reid shutdown the gov’t will be the mantra.

Symbolic, repealing ObamaCare will lose in the Senate or be vetoed. Still, I’m glad they are doing it. They need to repeat this legislation until they have the numbers - and cut spending NOW since they do have the numbers for that. Otherwise, 2012 will be time for some more house cleaning, and I think the socialists in our congress are more selfish than ideological and will bow to our demands . . . like Obama bowing to every third-world leader he meets.

I don’t think Lugar is going to run again, and I keep hearing from some folks that this is the seat Mitch Daniels really wants.

It’s good to remember there are sufficient numbers of conservatives in the House to control the agenda—assuming most of them prove to be the people they claimed to be.

They can simply defund Onadacare, the energy bill and any other Marxist junk the Great One has foisted on us. He can sign all the eos he wants, but without funding they go nowhere.

God, I love the Founding Fathers and the Constitution they beauethed to us. The Marxists thought it would all be so easy. Not.
